Z is for Zee end!, Zest and Zaperated

- It's Day 26 of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge, featuring the letter "Z".  I call this challenge done, or "Zee end!" as Pepe le Pew might say.  I've enjoyed it and found it easier than I thought - being given a letter to blog about, that could be about anything really, is pretty easy.  (Unless the letter is Z.)  :)

- This appeared on the company bulletin board.  I opened my mouth to say "hey - that's my blog name in there!," but thought better of it.  It seems to me that good things just happen, rather than making them happen, but I take from that declaration as a focus on everyone being as nice as possible to each other during stressful times.  And that seems like a good thing to me, that and having one's own zest for living.

- Do all families have fun mispronunciations?  I think the hardest I ever saw my mother laugh was when my then five-year-old niece was visiting my parents (and I was there, too, that weekend.)  My mom had used the word "exasperated" to Amanda the day before and had to explain what it meant.  So at the breakfast table on Sunday morning, Amanda walked in and said, "Nana!  I am zaperated with Granddaddy!"  And so, of course, I say "zaperated" to this day.  :)  The adult Amanda just gives a long-suffering shake of her head.

Thanks to everyone for sticking with me during the challenge.  I'll be back to my regular MWF schedule now.  See you Wednesday!

I am totally going to steal your word! We have mispronunciations and so many jokes that refer to movies and sitcoms that everyone else just thinks we're super strange. Which we are, anyhow. Congrats! Nice blogging challenge met!

Ha ha I love that with words that people say wrong and then they stick. We have a few in our home.

Well done, you did so well, I hope you enjoyed doing it? I mean that's what blogging is all about after all. :)

I knew you would go out with a flair. "Zee End"!!! How great. I read your every A-Z post with zest and never left feeling zaperated:) Congratulations on a job well done!

Children's mispronunciations often linger in the mind and cause laughter long after the event. My toddler called his py's jarmeraffes, mixing pyjamas with giraffes. Still cracks me up.

Hi Lynn - that's a great post .. and I love Zaperated - what a great word, I think I'll adopt it.

Now your Declaration appearing on the Noticeboard at work is .. 'talk about coincidences' ..

Love it .. and I've yet to visit one or two .. I'll be going backwards somewhere along the line ..

See you very soon - and it's a great ending .. cheers Hilary

Riot Kitty -

Thank you and I chuckled at "which we are, anyhow" - you are funny.

Joe -

I was about to shut down the computer and mull z words yesterday - at about 5pm, when I remembered "zaperated". :)

Yes - I enjoyed it very much. And I kind of liked writing the post and having it scheduled at midnight - I think I will keep that up, when possible.

Granny Annie -

I've seen two other blogs this morning also using Zee End. :) I thought I was the only one doing that. Thanks for sticking with me - you were indeed there for every one.

Francene -

Jarmeraffes - very cute. :)

Hilary -

Thank you - I enjoyed all your castle posts, too!

Yes - that declaration was indeed a coincidence.

Cheers, Hilary!

'Zaperated' sounds like it could be a real word. You may have started something. : )

"zaperated" - that is SO CUTE! I'm going to use it in a sentence today.

I thought that you might say that you were going to "catch some zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's" at work today, Lynn!

I know, I love it when children twist words around. We always 'left them' that way, too. My daughter used to say "Whips" for lips when she was little and we still use that word today!
"My whips are sealed!"

I love the name of your blog and having a pic of Pepe Le Pew on this post grabbed my attention, he's so cool!

She also used to call the remote control, the "mamote" control and my dad continued to call it that until the day he died.

The Elephant's Child -

I'm glad I could give you a smile today.

Joanne -

Aha! I like that. :)

Interesting how they can't say their "L's" when they are little. Amanda's older sister, Abby, used to call me Aunt Wynn. Some family members still say that.

Dino -

I liked that drawing of him filing his nails - it showed how much more relaxation I'll be getting now that the challenge is over. :)

I also liked it that he was so in love with that cat.

Yes, I think we all do have family mispronunciations.

Z is tough, n I'd somehow expected a Zebra, but you surprized me! A good cart to follow. Funny about the title irony!
I was Zaperated to have to skip a day of internet just at the A-2-Z wrap-up point!
Congrats n good job at keeping up the fast pace! You're so creative too-

Good Z word. and Zasperated is a great word. My nephew used to say fisk instead of fix. It was said when he out grew and started pronouncing it right. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you - it was fun.

Snaggle -

Another friend suggested Zebra, too, but I couldn't think of anything Zebra related that applied to me. :) I'm glad you enjoyed it and just come by when you can.

Jessica -

I had struggled with the Z post and that one came to me from that memory. :)

Zeelightful! :-)

I don't know if you could call this a "mispronounciation", but when my cousin (the one getting married in June) was a toddler, she used to refer to tomatoes as "oros". We have no idea where she came up with that word. Her father speaks Hebrew, but that is not the word for tomatoes in Hebrew or any other language that we know of.

Lynn said...

The Armchair Squid -

Thank you!

Sparkling Red -

And I'll bet you all says oros for tomatoes when you are together. :) Cute.
