Home grown, best line ever and being nice

- Sheer happiness at scoring some home grown tomatoes from coworker Bobby and a home grown cucumber from coworker Tony.

- Enjoying all the photos being sent by friends and family of their vacation scenery (although I did threaten to a coworker that I should take a picture of the concrete and asphalt jungle I work in and email it.)  :)  Ha!  This photo of a placid cat was preceded by a beautiful tale, with photos, from niece Rebecca and her partner Jack, of hiking on Vancouver Island, BC, and then discovering that their car had been towed.  After recovering it and shelling out much $$$, they return to their rented cottage, where the cat wandered in with them and "the night's sorrows dissipate like kitty breath."  Best line ever!

- Speaking with a triage nurse on the phone at my HMO who tells me I have a wonderfully peaceful way of saying no.  (To a doctor I didn't want to see.)  It always seems to me that you can get what you want by being nice.

Someone should declare a holiday in honor of tomato season. I'm glad you were given some and I hope you receive many more! If only I lived closer, I would definitely share : )

I cannot wait for my first tomato of the summer. Saying what you mean without saying it mean is a wonderful trait. :)

I'm stealing an idea for my blog from you today:)

That kitty cat looks like one of my grey cuties.

Perhaps I could learn a lot from you. My ways are not peaceful when saying "no".

Yay for homegrown veggies! They always taste so much better than anything you can get at the store!

Leonora -

I know - it's one of the best parts of summer. How I wish we lived closer - I would take you up on that!

I was just taken with the way the nurse said that to me, "You have such a peaceful way of saying no." I needed to see a doctor yesterday and one of the doctors on call had been very abrupt with me before, so I said I would rather not see her and was someone else available? I think people like that who work with the public all the time must be plagued with people who aren't pleasant to them. So I do what I can.

Granny Annie -

I saw that! It's all good. :)

Isn't that funny that the cat just wandered in with them and jumped on the bed. Rebecca and Jack are both animal lovers, so they were nice to the kitty.

Chatty Crone -

Surely there are some home grown tomatoes around you?

Joanne -

So true - I love those heirloom tomatoes, too.

I feel better just looking at a photo of that cat! :-)

I like to get my way by asking nicely too. I get quite upset when a situation leaves me no alternative other than to be a bulldog, or give up entirely. I will be the squeaky wheel when I need to be, but I don't enjoy it.

Catch more bees with honey than with vinegar!

Oh good God, at first glance I thought it said their cat had been towed!

I find you can usually get what you want by nagging paint off a wall ;)

Congrats on the tomatoes n cuke! I love real home food. I'm getting beet greens n peas every week no. Trying cukes but nothing produced there yet, lots of it'e flowers tho.
Usually my kitty does take alot of stress away, unless I find a mess to clean. It's been hair-ball week here... Good quote tho!

I tend to sound irritated when I'm iritated tho. Mostly I get what I want when I do it myself I find.
You're so sweet n diplomatic! No wonder you get such good results everywhere you go!

Nice kitty. :D

I definitely find you can get more (or annoy the crap out of an angry/rude person), by being polite.

Good looking veggies.

Sparkling Red -

That's what I liked about seeing the cat photo - they had a bad evening, but a kitty appeared to hang out and made them feel happier.

I can be a squeaky wheel, too, but would rather not be. :)

Absolutely!

I miss having a kitty, but not those hairballs! :)
