Cleaning up the bricks, good corner and beholding the beauty

- Seen on my commute - a building on the National Historic Register.  The former White Provision Company building, built in 1910, once was a meat packing business, but now is mixed used (residential, commercial.)  I love how they are cleaning up the brick there and managed a quick through-the-windshield shot.

- Later on the commute - a woman stands with her hands on her hips looking perplexed.  I look to see what she is looking at and it's a flock of geese, hanging out beside a parking garage next to a busy hospital.  They must have decided that was a good corner for treats.

- And nearing home, a woman holding her baby and showing her the flowers on a tree.  It's never too early to behold the beauty of nature.

It's amazing the things one can see if one takes the time to really look. Thanks for sharing the sweet snapshots of life you notice on your way to work.

I had to blow it up to see it - but you are right! Sandie

Brick cleaners are doing a good job.

Hope the geese don't go into the road.

Tender memory of showing nature's beauty to a small child.

It's so funny how adapted to humans birds can become...the pigeons in NYC will go right up to you!

lol - geese are always looking for handouts! :)

Thank you - they felt amazing.

Sandie -

I should put "click to enlarge" - good point.

Granny Annie -

They were - I got that photo just before I had to move.

I hope not, too. At first I wondered what she was looking at in the ditch, then realized I could see goose heads. :)

They were out for an evening walk, I guess. Love that they were doing it leisurely.

Joanne -

Seems as if I saw that in London, too. I guess the more you feed them...

Talon -

It seems so!

I love how you notice things:~) You see things others might miss and I'm pleased you share them with us. I liked the one about the geese. We have lots of them; a few even hang out near the Interstate, which always makes me nervous, but I have to see one hit.

A very nice three:~)

Never to early indeed. Kelly was shown all kinds of stuff, read (mostly Dr. Seuss,)to and sung to when she was still "the bump."

I LOVE those olde buildings!! enjoyed seeing a red brick one in Galveston a couple years ago, it had Texas' FIRST ever CocaCola ad sign on it -- painted right onto the brick. how DO those artists do that??! All I can still draw is a stick man, and badly. :) :)

Oh, and last year Kelly and I saw a rooster running all 'round the gas station parking lot. And bummer -- I thought I was taping it on my iPhone, but forgot to hit record, or didn't tap the button hard enough, or whatever. Oh well, who needs the video when you can see it all play out in your mind? :)

I see geese and ducks in the weirdest places here, too. It's like someone sent them a message, "Hey! Pick this tiny speck of green in the middle of urbanity!"

Thank you - it's a conscious effort, otherwise we miss lovely things. Like the vine escaping through the other side of the chain link fence in your blog post.

Jannie -

Hey Jannie Muffin! There were chickens at a rural BP station I used to stop at when I visited my mom and dad. What's that about?

Love old buildings and am glad this one escaped being torn down!

Riot Kitty -

They do seem to have some odd radar. :)

Goose for dinner!

So often...too often...we take what's around us for granted...we should take more time not only to smell the roses, but to count the geese. as well! :)

I bet cleaning brick is a tough job- looks new! You can't fight geese, they always win. Hope no one had trouble parking. Lucky babies learning about flowers already.

lg -

Indeed!

Lee -

True. Although I don't think I want to eat goose. I think I've only had it in the form of foie gras.

Sage -

Thank you - as do you!

Shionge -

Thank you, my friend.

Snaggle -

Yes - the geese always do win. My friends who have a lakefront house strung up wire so they wouldn't come into the yard, but somehow they still do. :)

Aw, I love that last image.

Thank you - I didn't go into detail, but that is a very low income neighborhood I drive through there and always love the multi-ethnicity I see around there. Lots of moms out with their children.

I normally try to keep a camera in the car with me at all times to snap away at interesting things I see on my car journeys. I saw this beautiful sunset the other day with a most stunning sky and a woman was taking a shot of it with her phone. I don't have a phone!
