Bounty, Saturday and Sunday in the park and whimsy

Weekend photos...

- Bounty from the season.  Friend Leisa brought me some tomatoes from Grainger County, Tennessee, which are coveted for their great taste due to limestone in the soil.  I had the first two in sandwiches. Thanks friend!  And peaches from Fort Valley, Georgia found at Whole Paycheck Whole Foods.  We used to go peach picking as a family, when I was a little girl, in orchards around that area.  Nothing better.

- Black-eyed Susans and some purple coneflowers beyond them at the Greenway park on Saturday.  I'm seeing the delightfully named Susans all over right now.

- Three friends watch the train go by, near the entrance to the Greenway park, on Sunday.  The three of them can always be found walking on Saturday and Sunday mornings there (and I suspect during the week.)  One of them carries a bag of dog biscuits for any canine friends they encounter.  (Click to enlarge.)

- And a bit of whimsy on this church sign near my house.  "Shock your Mama, Stop by this Sunday."  Ha!  A church sign with a sense of humor.  (Click to enlarge.)

Our bank gives Slim a treat if she is in the car with me. A new teller recently gave two treats so I hid one, not wanting Slim to get the wrong idea for future visits. Slim finished the one and immediately went to the hiding place for the second. You can't put anything past my brilliant doggy.

I like that church sign and I'm wanting a tomato sandwich right now.

Isn't summer awesome? I love them, too.

Granny Annie -

That's funny - she's got the nose. :)

Sage -

Direct and to the point, that sign. Tomatoes probably haven't come in up there yet?

Munir -

In the south we eat only a tomato in a sandwich - the "home grown" tomatoes are so good that they are delicious.

Love the sign! And is there anything better than fresh veg? My husband accuses me of being part rabbit...

I love church signs with a sense of humor. Black eyed susans are my state's flower. :)

Riot Kitty -

That sign made me laugh out loud when I passed it on my way to the expressway last weekend, so I stopped on Sunday to snap the photo.

Vegetables are my favorite, too. This is just the best time for good things to eat.

I didn't know that about the Susans - I don't remember which state you live in, but they chose a lovely flower to be their representative.

Our garden is bursting with coneflowers and black-eyes and I love them...almost as much as the bees do. :)

The church sign made me laugh out loud. Sounds like that's a place of worship with a sense of humor. :)

"Whole Paycheck" Whole Foods...too funny here Lynn! We found a health food store in Asheville that has very reasonable prices; especially on bulk spices...but we have to drive 2 hours and 20 min. to get there!!!

Miss you girl!

Oh what....fresh produce which is wonderful. When I was in England, we went to strawberry & blueberry pickings so it would be fun to pick some peaches too :D

I am with you Whole Food I love - but it is whole paycheck!

It's good that there are bees there - I am not seeing many around this year.

And if I didn't already have a church, I might be tempted to go there. :)

I've missed you, too! I hope everything is OK with you and your family. It's probably all that driving to Asheville for spices that's keeping you busy. (I adore Asheville.) Our international farmers market here has bulk spices and they are cheap!

Betty -

We have black and white photos showing our peach picking jaunts - each of us posing with a peach. :)

Sandie -

I went by last night - I love it, too - a happy place.

Naomi -

So scrumptious! Thank you - hope you are well today.

Whole Paycheck? I haven't heard that one before. I will steal it, especially for use when the Whole Foods being built near my house finally opens. (You know I'll shop there anyway.) :-)
