Happy desk lunch, in other lunch news... and I'm awake

- I mentioned Ruth Reichl's gazpacho a few days ago and finally made it last Sunday.  So good!  A coworker walked by my cubicle yesterday and said she smelled cucumbers.  Indeed - the air around my cubicle smelled so fresh because of it.  And it lingered for awhile.  Lovely.

- So glad the above pic would not qualify for the Sad Desk Lunch tumblr blog, in which the prevailing thought is "62% of American office workers usually eat their lunch in the same spot they work all day."  Click here to view if you need a giggle.

- And so happy the man downstairs has already left for work as the salt shaker plummeted from a kitchen cabinet, striking a glass on the countertop and breaking it to smithereens.  I looked at the carnage around me and was relieved not to have awakened my hardworking neighbor, but now I'm wide awake. :)

I eat my lunch at my desk practically every day. I think having a blog about it is hilarious. So sorry about your salt shaker debacle this morning. I hope you remembered to toss a little of the spilled salt over your shoulder. :)

Did the salt shaker break or did the glass break? I never ate lunch at my desk. Usually I was taking a customer or prospective customer to lunch in a fancy restaurant or attending business luncheon. Is that rude to say?

And I have to add that I hated it like the plague and would have much rather been having lunch at my desk.

What a nice hearty lunch and I always eat at my desk too :) Usually it is salad if not, sandwich with apples or banana ;D

lol - desk lunches are a sad reality. :) But yours looks good and healthy, Lynn.

I've yet to make gazpacho. Sounds yummy.

I rarely eat lunch at my desk, only when I work late and the caregivers bring me a plate without my asking for it...which is always sweet and hard to resist. The authentic Cuban dishes are amazing!

That salt shaker incident would've scared the hell out me.

Some of those lunches looked as they would be sad where-ever they were eatan. Yours on the other hand, looked yummy.
Doesn't shattered glass go a looooong way. I think the classic is a shattered windscreen where you can still be discoveing pieces months after the calamity.

Yum! I'm so bad, I never avail myself of a lunch break unless I have a lunch meeting. Just habit.

I have the cubicle lunch almost every day, too. No - it was one of those salt grinders (shouldn't have called it shaker). It didn't spill at all.

Granny Annie -

It was the glass - one of a set of goblets I got at Pottery Barn a few years ago. Favorite glasses ever. I called yesterday to see if they still had them and they do.

No - not rude at all. I actually took a client to lunch yesterday - we met at a restaurant and he was 15 minutes late. I was wildly busy at work, so that gave me time to wind down a bit.

Shionge -

That sounds like a good and healthy lunch.

Talon -

I know! :) Thank you -

It is yummy. You should try it sometime.

I'll bet that Cuban food is amazing. Lucky chica!

It did scare the hell out of me and it happened in an instant.

Elephant's Child -

I'm still seeing sparkles of glass around. I've swept and swept.

Riot Kitty -

I'm so busy at work right now that I just keep working. I ate the gazpacho while working.

Naomi -

It was yummy. I need to do that again. I'm glad everyone enjoyed that website - I think it's hilarious.

You are so conscientious, worrying about waking your neighbor while dealing with broken plate everywhere! I would be hollering.

I always eat at my desk, didn't know there was a sad desk lunch site. How funny!

Perfect time for tomatoes!

That does look good, n bet it was after reading the recipe- I wouldn;t mind a desk lunch because it's difficult to find a place to sit n eat where I work- not enough chairs! I hate bothering neighbors too- but they always seem to wake me anyways. I hate the groggy dropping-things before caffiene! You are an angel-

Early morning mishaps- I hate those. I'm too groggy to deal with them. Mine have involved spilled coffee beans or stepping in a doggie surprise on the floor.

Sandra -

I feel like a tomato hoarder when I go to the vegetable stand on the weekend. :) I do love them.

Snaggle -

Your neighbors are never very considerate, sounds like. The guy downstairs from me tries to be - it's taken a bit of gentle reminding.

Leonora -

Oh my - that all happened so fast and I'm still finding little shards of glass.

Yeah I pretty much eat lunch at my desk year 'round. Even when I go offsite, I usually eat my lunch at the cube that I'm assigned to for the day. Very very very rarely do I go outside (or any other place for that matter) for lunch at work.

That link was very funny. I normally eat my lunch at my desk too.

Oh broken glass makes such a mess, I bet you were finding small pieces of glass for days. Glad it didn't wake up your neighbours.
