They're back, connection and coasters

- My planter that I allow weeds to take over just because, has produced this plant with puffy things just like this time last year. Wonder what it is?

- Excited that I have finally made a connection with the proper marketing representative from a federal credit union and making an appointment for next week, only to find out that he is in Burbank, California instead of Atlanta (an 800# operator had transferred me.) No one is game for sending me to California.

- Driving with friend Leisa to a paper show south of Atlanta and passing a spot in which the tops of roller coasters at Six Flags over Georgia are superimposed over the distant skyline of the city. She says, "Hey, a good blog photo!" I tell her she is reading my mind, but there is nowhere to pull over. So I hope you can visualize it. :)

Have a great weekend!

Love your weed stories. I'm a former Atlantan. I heard the roller coasters at Six Flags were messed up by the floods??? I'll keep looking for you. Couldn't find a Flash 55, though.

It makes me smile the way we all start seeing everything as potential blog material! :D

So much of your print work is now done on recycled paper?

I pictured it perfectly, Lynn!

Maybe the marketing rep will feel like a trip to Atlanta? ;)

I don't know what weed that is, but is has some serious seedheads! Kind of like a dandelion on steroids!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Joe was commenting at the same time as me so I have to add - lol, Joe!!

That looks like a huge dandelion!

Bubbie -

Hi Bubbie! Sometimes I do a 55, but not this week. Yes - Six Flags was partially under water during the flood. They seem to be operating though.

Joe -

It is true that I am always on the lookout for blog material. :) We recycle all scrap paper here at the printing plant and use recycled paper as much as customers allow it. (It is more expensive, of all things!) And we use soy-based ink.

Talon -

My neighbor downstairs is afraid that they will germinate all around us. I think it is odd that I pulled that up by the roots last year and it still came back. :)

Mama Zen -

A dandelion on steroids - as Talon said. That must be it. :)

Riot Kitty -

You sneaked in there while I was commented back - I hope you have a great weekend, too!

Must be the weed's way with wanting to survive by producing things of interest!

That seems to be a problem with recycled products. While good for the environment, they cost an arm and a leg to buy.

As for the credit union, why not? A trip to California just might be the ticket to get rid of those pesky blahs that can hang around from time to time.

It's the Halloweenie Puff Bomb!

That could always be a video conference appt???

So many good leaf shots this week were made impossible because of their highway locations, n no safe places to take the pics- either. They always look best from the road!
That's when you get the passenger to shoot one out the rolled down window without dropping the cam while you continue to drive... I've done it too often-

Lynn,
I can envision the roller coasters against the skyline! Reminds me of driving down to Chicago, and going past Six Flags Great America - always a fun place to see!

Hello Anil! Thank you for stopping by my blog. And I agree - this weed produced something that turned out to be interesting. Your blog is Wonderful! I am linking to it so I can see all future posts.

To their credit, almost everyone requests reycled paper, but then gets sticker shock when I give them the quote. Most of the time people end up with FSC certified paper (made from paper that came from managed forests) or 10% PC - or post consumer, meaning it has that much recycled content.

Wish I could go on a trip. No extra $$$.

I'll have to think of that passenger thing the next time - she would have been on the wrong side of the car and then on the return trip it was dark. Love that - Halloweenie puff bomb. :)

Might have to think about that Skype thing for video conferencing.

I love coasters - sounds like you do, too. :)

I love the idea of letting a week grow in a planter. That is really quite a beautiful plant; most weeds are, when you get past the thought they are "weeds".

A paper show sounds fun. It makes me think of when I was in high school and I'd go buy stationery with my girlfriends at lunchtime. :-)

Jewel -

My weedy planter just sort of happened - I kept meaning to put some sort of flowering plant in it and never did. So it was fun and felt sort of faintly democratic to let whatever weed fancied being there live.

Paper shows are great fun and you get to bring home all manner of notecards and things made out of paper. They had some origami that you could pick up, too. And the food is always fabulous. :)

Can definitely imagine it :) And I must say, I love the poof-ball seed heads of your volunteer.

The plant looks like it might be wild lettuce to me (hard to guess without a closeup of seed head and leaf form). However, I wouldn't try the leaves out unless you can identify it for sure. There's a cousin called "poison lettuce" -- which doesn't sound too encouraging for a taste test; does it? ;)

Lynn said...

Meredith -

Oh my - poison wild lettuce. Probably won't be trying that. Thank you for the probable ID though!

Jannie Funster said...

yes, I once had one of those dazzling plants too. -- now I have 400 in the backyard.

I'd send you to CA, Lynn! And put you up in the finest of hotels.

Jannie -

That is why my neighbor downstairs is afraid of.

Thank you for sending me to California - I would also like to go to France. :)
