Freezing, family phrases and the end of the story

- Mr C's lures 'em in with a frosty promise. A nod to the prevailing conversation these days about the dog days of summer.

- Family emails flying back and forth about the coordination of a date for an event that just isn't working out right. My sister hits 'reply to all' and writes "Damn spit!" A niece replies, "Damn spit???" and sparks a series of emails with everyone else contributing their favorite expletives (rated PG, of course.)

- Making an appointment with my car repairman, who I go way back with, for this morning. People often feel comfortable telling me their troubles and when we talk yesterday, he picks up where we left off last February. I am looking forward to hearing the end of the story!

Have a cool weekend, friends! One way or another. :)

I will, Lynn. I will! :)

What with the car repairman's troubles, your family troubles, and that signe that can only spell trouble (I'm not a very trusting lad), it seems like you're in for one interesting weekend! :P

I think it's an excellent sign of your vehicle's health that you're hearing the instalments in seven month intervals :)

I wonder if the freezing has a poor effect on the meat loaf?

Hope the coordination starts smoothing out, Lynn! In the meantime, you're collecting some great child-friendly expletives!

Have a fabulous weekend.

3rd one is hilarious.

ahh, the lurement of A/C indeed. I'd for sure need a sweater, as I do most places here.

Out damn spit!?? :)

Ahh, you Southern Belles and your clean language! So NOT my Canadian community upbringing. :) We cuss like New Yorkers up home. :)

Lynn, I can see you being the one people would naturally gravitate towards to tell their troubles. You must have such a gentle, sympathetic mien. :)

Talon's first sentence made me laugh!

I've decided to splurge on a visit to the movie theatre this weekend for precisely that reason. 2 hours in the freezing cold air = bliss. :) Have a cool one, yourself!

Tony -

The car repairman's troubles seem abated now - he is caregiver to his mother and sister. It was good to hear how he worked it all out. And my family just has logistics issues - nothing serious.

Yes - you could write a whole Stephen King novel off that signage. :)

Talon -

I know! Toyota Camry. I love a Toyota.

Mr C's typically goes for the fish on Friday thing - I'm thinking some kind of fried fish sandwich.

Those mild expletives were funny to read - the funniest: geez 'o flip!

Ellis -

I like it! Great wrap up!

Mama Zen -

I'll meet you there for a fish sandwich and a cold beer. :)

Jannie -

Our damn spit - I get it. That is so McBethian of you! :)

xo

Meredith -

I'll be interested in hearing what you see. I don't go to the movies often, but I do plan to see Eat Pray Love after it comes out next week. Loved that book.

Strangers are always sharing their personal stories with me and I love it. I listen and learn something new every time.

Have fun and stay cool this weekend!!

In my family that e-mail exchange would've been a little more colorful, but I like that "damn spit" expression!

It's nice to have people you know around you. People who can pick up where they left off. I love it!
Oh and very funny about your family emails!

Temps are a little cooler here... for a day or two anyway, so I should be cool... In GA, that sign might draw a crowd in August!

I would leave a comment but I am too busy chuckling at Talon's!

PG expletives! I love it.

Maybe Mr C has turned the whole diningroom into a walk-in frig...
I bet if that email sparked similar responses in my sibling group, it would be rated R! Some are not good at holding the tongue. I like those G-rated ones tho! Funny- Especially new ones- like "Fying Flippie!" That I just invented.
Hope your repair pal has a happy ending to his tale!

It does give you a glimpse into other peoples' lives - I never mind it. And sometimes it makes me wonder if I should have gone into some kind of counseling.

Cookie -

Thank you - it was hilarious. :)

Sage -

Especially cold beer is involved!

Shay -

I agree, Talon's comment was funny. :)

Riot Kitty -

I thought you would like that! :)

Snaggle -

I used to date a man who was prone to expletives and his little son used to correct him and say, "Don't say that, say 'Oh Dear Gussie!'" I've said Oh Dear Gussie to this day. :)
