Peaceful, lovely read and twisty handle

- The sun tried to come out on Sunday morning, but no matter - it was lovely to sit on the porch for a little while and enjoy coffee and some reading on a relatively non-humid morning.

- The book is Into the Beautiful North by Luis Alberto Urrea. It is beautifully written with a great plot - all the women in a Mexican village have been left behind while the men gone north to find work, leaving them at the mercy of drug gangsters. The heroine hatches an elaborate scheme inspired by The Magnificent Seven: she heads north to find seven Mexican men and smuggle them back into Mexico to protect the town. A lovely read.

- The pottery mug was created by a potter in North Carolina named Rob. I love the twisty handle on the mug that creates a space in which my thumb fits perfectly when I lift it.

Is that one of those plastic wicker chairs? We have a set and I simply LOVE them. They are comfy, pretty and the elements have not aged them a day since we got them 5 years ago.

Lovely spot, glad you enjoyed your Sunday morning. It cooling off yet in Atlanta? I notice a wee welcome change here now in the mornings.

Jannie -

That is exactly what those chairs are. These are out of the rain for the most part, except when it blows across during a hard storm.

It is cooling off some, this was just about the first morning it was pleasant enough to sit out.

I like that twisty handle, too. Looks pretty. Creative, handmade touches like that are so wonderful.

I'm glad it's cooling off for you, too. F. and I did some serious garden catch-up last night, and he did all the heaviest lifting b/c my thumb is cut, and what a wonder, neither of us were pouring sweat at the end. :)

Think I'm going to have to check out that book...

I cannot think of the potter's last name. He has such unique things. My sister has about 10 of these mugs. We love mountain pottery.

It sounded like you needed a stitch or two in that cut - I hope it is healed soon.

Shay -

I could just read and sip coffee or hot tea all day and be the laziest girl in the world. :)

I wish you would!

Into the Beautiful North sounds like a read and a half. Should I consider adding it to my growing pile of reads, Lynn? :)

Those wicker chairs look like a comfortable sit. I need some sunshine myself right now. Getting as pale as a ghost indoors! :P

My computer is down
so I’ll be slow getting around

No swatting on the pages
as coffee she sipped
from a mug with a twisty handle
where her thumb did fit
reading of seven hero’s and a heroine
and drug gangsters, bottoms they kicked

Very interesting plot in your book.
We have a bew potter in the village, but lessons are very expensive, along with the goods! Great mug desigb!

Ah ha! It is one of those chairs. Wonderful inventions.

Well, off now to make the kiddos lunch. School started yesterday, and it's nice to be back on the schedule I like best.

Hope your day goes shiningly!
