Over the rooftops, cemetery dog and visit

- The sun setting over the rooftops. Taken from the parking deck of Georgia Public Broadcasting as day was slipping into night.

- Update on the dog from Friday. She was there again this past Saturday. Yes - "he" turned out to be a she. The caretaker says she is a cemetery dog; she just wandered up one day. They posted some flyers around, but no one ever claimed her. So she lives there and they take care of her. Some ladies who come out regularly to visit their husbands graves bring treats and supply her with her festive bandannas.

- Visiting Milledgeville two Saturdays in a row for family business allows me time to visit with friend Susan, who operates an antiques store next to the best bakery in the world.* I always have difficulty resisting the bakery and fortunately for me, it was closed on Saturday (for some inexplicable reason.) I spot some other women peering into the darkened door as I drive away. Another Saturday road trip on a blue sky day with mission accomplished - the family home is back on the market.

* According to me.

That's pretty interesting about the dog.

Sort of a guard dog of the dearly departed you might say.

I loves me a good sunset!

Perhaps the loyal dog has a loved one buried there.

Difficult to resist the best bakery in the world. It would have been a good thing for me that it was closed.

Sunsets and bakeries...now that's living the good life!! (even if the bakery was closed!)

The dog's story restores my faith in humanity a little bit. I like what Granny Annie said...maybe he is watching over someone.

Gorgeous picture!

I'm glad that the dog was given a home.

Sounds like the dog crated a job for himself. I am finding that I love bakeries even more these days...

Such delicate colors in that sunset, Lynn. Lovely!

I'm glad the dog found a place that she can call home :)

Hope the house sells quickly and easily and above asking :)

Hope the doggie will stay cool in summer, and warm in winter, poor little sweetie.

Bakery closed!?! That is truly a sad thing. I think I shall have to visit a bekery later today in honor of this post and life my croissant in your honor!

I think my dad would have liked that story. I tried to visit his grave when I was there on the 12th, but they were repaving the entrance. Then I tried to enter from the service entrance and it was blocked, too. That's when I looked down that day and saw the dog, so patiently waiting.

When I was there this past Saturday, the 19th, I looked up on the hill and there she was again. I was able to get her story from the guy who runs the place. I forgot to ask her name though.

Granny Annie -

Me, too! And I wonder about that - the caretaker thought someone put her out. Sad, but she has a great new home.

It was a good thing for me it was closed. I was totally going to get something good and call it lunch.

Lance -

It is the good life, for sure. :)

Such nice people there - and you're right, it does restore faith in humanity.

Mama Zen -

Thank you - I edited out most of the houses and kept the rooftops.

Isn't it wonderful how some animals just know where to find a good home? My parents home used to be magnets for stray animals, as if they knew the people there would be kind.

Talon -

Thank you - it was a nice moment, that. And I sure hope the house sells quickly - it needs a new family.

Jannie -

Have one for me! I wanted a German Nut Bar or an iced cookie - both good.

xo

Ellis -

Yes - even there. :) Thank you for my poem. Another good one!

I've gotten sentimental about Milledgeville now. There won't be much reason to go back once the house sells, but I can still go down some Saturdays to the cemetery and to visit my friend in town.

That is a beautiful picture!

There's something connected in this "three." The sunset, the cemetery dog and the family home on the market. I see it as closures and new beginnings.

I wonder if the dog has someone buried in the cemetery. If that's the case, it's nice that she has new people to take care of her. I also imagine she would be good for the people who visit. Dogs are very emphatic:~)

The pink in that sunset is beautiful. I love enlarging your pictures...I can see so much more in them:~)

Riot Kitty -

Thank you!

I confess that sometimes I don't think of any synergy when I am putting my blog post together, but I'm glad it works out that way.

The dog was up on a little slope overlooking all the graves on Saturday. I wonder about her background, but think she has found just the place for her.

Interesting dog story! I remember the antiques shop friend. Think of all the calories you saved!

I was a little chagrined, but did think that about the calories. :)
