Early spring, catching up on films and cookies

- The trees are blossoming in full force in Atlanta, a sign of an early spring. We are back to the low 30s this morning in temperature, so they must be feeling a bit shivery right about now.

- Watching the 1993 film, "In the Name of the Father" - a true story of a group of people falsely convicted of IRA bombings. It is a good somber film for a rainy day and Daniel Day-Lewis's performance in it is phenomenal.

- The church deacons host a cookie reception after the 11am service. A group of women have a discussion about the oddity of cookies served in the lunchtime hour, as we munch cookies then talk about what we are about to have for lunch. :)

Life is uncertain, Lynn. Eat dessert first! ;-)

Oh Lynn~ I so do love the first blossoms. Thank you for that :) We too had a cold chill blast with snow flurries that stuck causing a one hour delay for school! But alas, the good news is the sun is out full force~~ so there is no way that it can last!! At last!
Lynn~~Do have yourself a terrific day friend! :):)Enjoy all the blossoms, may you find them around every corner...

There's cold around this morning
No blossoming here yet.

Seen it liked it.

Cookies would keep one from eathing to much lunch.

Feels a bit like a slap in the face to the poor trees, I'm guessing -- and to me, too. Where did our semi-summer weather go??

Lovely photograph, Lynn. Here's hoping the film, the cookies, and the lunch afterward were good. :)

Poor blossoms! But they sure are gorgeous! I hope the cold doesn't make them drop too quickly.

As a cookie monster, I believe cookies are appropriate at any time :)

I chuckled when I read that, because that is so true! :)

I am finding them at every corner - they are beautiful. I enjoyed the daffodils on your blog yesterday, too. Sorry you are getting that really chill blast this a.m.

MZ -

I think you are right. There were a huge array of them, too. I love a cookie.

Ellis -

That's exactly what happened!

Meredith -

I'm thinking we'll be back to warm weather shortly. It feels like winter's last stand. :)

lol at cookie monster. That's me, too - except I'm back on South Beach this a.m. But not before enjoying a raspberry layered cookie yesterday. Yum. (And a brownie.)

Dittoes on eating dessert first!

I LOVE Daniel Day Lewis. I do a pretty good mimic of him (I think) in "There Will Be Blood." "I'm an old man, and all that jazz.) Of course, now you'll be asking me to post a video of me in that mode. :)

whoops, meant to write, "I'm an oil man," not "old" man. :)

But now that I think of it, I AM an old man -- the one writing poems by candle light near an attic window on a June night, lilacs wafting up the trellis.

(Just a bit of a poem I wrote last week.) :)

There,I've read Lynn's blog. My day is complete. And it's only 10:14 a.m. :)

The tree is lovely--we'll see such sights in about MAY!

Our weather did a similar temp trick, over freezing but rainy, then boom- frozen again today- Beautiful pic- Are those Cherry blossoms! Nothing here yet.
I remember trailers for that film, but haven't seen it yet.
A cookie reception sounds rather sinful before lunch! That's funny!

Jannie -

Could you post a video of you mimicking Daniel Day-Lewis as an oil man? Or an old man - either would be OK with me. :)

I am always glad to see you and glad that I can help make your day complete.

xo

Riot Kitty -

In due time, I guess. :)

Sage -

And then it lasts about 5 minutes?

Snaggle -

Honestly - I don't know what that is - someone told me last year. A pink dogwood maybe?
