Big 'ol squirrel, no lie and fortune cookie day

- Getting a kick out of the artwork in front of the art building at my old school - Georgia State University. This one is entitled, "6 ft Concrete Squirrel." The artist is Nimer Aleck II.

- And this one? It's called, "Table." Steve Comier created this in 1979.

- The admin at my mother's assisted living facility kindly mails an activities schedule to me. For September 13 it says "Happy National Fortune Cookie Day!" And they are having Fortune Cookies and lemonade at 3:00pm.

How did Nimer Aleck II ever come up with such an original name for the sculpture? LOL

That second one should be named "Hairy Table" because it sure looks like it needs a shave.

Today I shall tell Ron that we need to go to the Chinese Buffet where we get a free fortune cookie with our meal since it is "Happy National Fortune Cookie Day". He has been craving Mexican food and I've had about all the rice and re-fried beans this old body can take.

I love the squirrel! I wish I could introduce it to the 4-foot metal owls (a pair of two) that perch on a low retaining wall at a nearby primary school.

Mmmm...fortune cookies and lemonade!! Sounds pretty great to me!!

And that squirrel!! He's GIGANTIC! We have a black squirrel that wanders our yard. I call him a black bear. Oddly, no one is afraid of him!! (he's not quite as big as your concrete squirrel!)

I'll have to remember to get a fortune cookie today. I do love Chinese! In the mall food court there is a sesame chicken that Kelly and I love, we share an order because it's so big.

I would love to have you photograph me on top of that squirrel one day!! :)

xoxo

I would hate to meet a squirrel that big.

Granny Annie -

I know - too funny. And that table looks like some kind of torture device to me. :)

Good - an excuse to have Chinese food and not Mexican! I'm happy I could facilitate that.

Sparkling Red -

Thank you - I'm glad you love it.

Lance -

I know! To me, too.

A black squirrel - that's interesting.

Jannie -

Me, too - spicy garlic shrimp is my favorite.

I'm thinking 6 ft. Squirrel might have moved to another location by now - I took those two photos in May and had never used them. :) But I will happily photograph you on top of or beside other statues in Atlanta! Come on up.

You need a human infront of the squirrel for scale- If you didn't say it was 6' I wouldn't know- Huge! Painful looking table... I haven't been back to see school in years. Got film pics of the art there somewhere. I was in the Art Department..
I'd like fortune cookie day- Alot more upbeat than dwelling on the losses that date- Hope she got a good one!

Yes - sometimes a silly day like fortune cookie day is what we need.
