Beauty in the midst, operation smile and good tip

- A dragonfly hovers over the hood of my car as I crawl toward work on I-85 south during my morning commute.  Possibly not remarkable except as a reminder that there is beauty even in the midst of a congregation of cars.

- Encountering so many morose employees lately when I'm out shopping that I decide to smile at everyone who does a service for me.  And so far it's working.  I am getting a return smile at least 90% of the time. :)

- Rubbing a walnut over scratches in your furniture will disguise dings and scrapes.  This astounding tip was shared by Sandie on her blog.   I read the tip on her Saturday post and immediately went to get a walnut to rub over the scratch on my dining room buffet (made by a careless repairman.)  And it worked!  Amazing.

Do you mean the nut itself? I will try this tonight! Thanks for the tip!

Claudia -

Yes - a walnut out of the shell. The scratch looks as if it was never there.

Dragonflies are so beautiful...but I also find them kind of scary. I'd be happy there was a windshield in-between me and them!

Joanne -

I suppose I wouldn't want one to light on me - I hadn't thought of that before.

I have a collection of things with dragonflies on them. It started with a pin my friend Steven gave me as a gift. I have assorted things around the house - the one pictured is one of my favorites.

I love dragonflies and do you know if you come across one or more, you'll be in good luck always :)

I think dragonflies are amazingly beautiful. I love that they come in all sizes and colors. I'm glad you had a friend to keep you company on the crawl to work. :) btw, the space station was so cool. You can see it again tonight. :)

Then that was a good thing that happened to me - good lucky always. I hope you see dragonflies today, too.

They are beautiful. I was delighted to see it.

It looks as if you can see it over Atlanta tonight around 9:37pm. I'll walk outside and see if I can see it. I'm glad you got to. :)

You know what I read about smiles - they say you can never give one away - because you will always get one back!

Smile not only in your face, but your WHOLE body!

I think dragonflies are so neat in and of themselves.

I really enjoy magical beauty in forced waiting situations. Nice dragonfly art pic.
Working conditions, pay, n benefits have been cut so far, plus there's nothing like being under-employed without options, so I bet spreading those smiles os very appreciated.
Those walnut Omega 3's are even good for wood scrathes? I'll have to check ot out, thanks.

I had a spider web on my driver's side mirror with a huge spider clinging to it. It rode with me many a mile and I couldn't bring myself to remove the web. Unbelievable the mighty wind that web was able to withstand for several days to and from work.

A recent trip to the DMV there was a very unhappy customer who confronted the clerk over the cost of her tag. The clerk quietly stepped aside and said to one of her co-workers, "You'll need to help this customer" and the co-worker simply stepped in and took over.

Yes I saw that on Sandie's blog too and wondered if it really works. Now all I need is a walnut.

Sandie -

I like to smile with my voice, too. :)

Riot Kitty -

I think so, too.

That was a candle holder that I bought to give as a gift and then remembered that I am the one who likes dragonflies so much, so kept it. :)

Granny Annie -

I keep a bag of shelled walnuts to put on salads. I throw a small handful in the microwave and toast them for about 45 seconds. So good. I was astounded that rubbing that walnut over that deep scratch would cover it up!

Smiles are definitely contagious - and it's nice when you can turn a frown upside down :)

I see you did the A to Z Challenge, too, and that a some of my other blog friends come to yours - I quite liked it!

Scarlet -

Thank you - I've never captured a live dragonfly with my camera, so have to rely to fake ones, like this one for illustration. :)

Talon -

I've gotten some brilliant smiles from people - it makes me happier, too.

OMG -- I love you even more than ever!!! Jim inadvertly scratched up the dining room oak table with the metal hinges of a wooden box he'd made to house one of his awesome train models. I am totally going to try that walnut trick, thanks!

Okay, the nut itself, got it, thanks.

And I LOVE maple walnut ice cream. haven't had any in a long long time, I'm due!
