Early morning greeting, stretching and work snack

- An early morning survey of my outdoor plants gets me caught outside in pajama pants and t-shirt by the newspaper delivery woman.  She lifts her hand in greeting as she drops the paper at neighbor Marion's door.  I wave back, saying I was looking at my flowers.  "Pretty," she says, and doesn't seem at all amused at catching me in sleeping attire.  I'll bet it happens to her all the
time.

- My plant nursery friend in the mountains, who sold me these herbs, wasn't sure they would get enough sun in my kitchen window, but they seem to be doing just fine.  I love the ethereal look of the thyme as it stretches toward the glass dragonfly. (Click to enlarge photo.)

- A mid-morning snack of brie and red grapes.  I love the taste of the buttery brie combined with the tang of the grapes.  And much better than getting into the vending machine at work.  :)

It's the weekend already!  I hope you have a great one.

Just a general comment this time.

It seems that either you're getting your 2nd wind with your blog, or you managed to dig a litte deeper with your postings, because as of late, your posts have managed to resonate with me in way that really helps me to stay balanced with the personal chaos that surrounds me.

Just wanted to say, thanks.

I'll never forget when I was a child, I saw one of our neighbors getting his paper in his bathrobe. He was a portly lawyer, well respected in our neighborhood and I thought it was the funniest thing to see him in his robe. It was so out of character.
I'm sure you are right about your newspaper lady- she probably sees people in morning attire all the time. : )

I want brie as a mid-morning snack!

I agree with George, I find your posts have become more and more "human" and fun in recent months.

I quite often greet my postman in boxer shorts and t-shirt. I hope he doesn't mind. :D

G -

Thank you for saying that - I was looking back at some of my original posts and realized that I need to go back to basics and just post about the simple things.

I'm glad I can contribute a little peace to offset the chaos, George. Hope you have a great day.

Leonora -

My first impulse was to quickly go inside when I saw her walking up, but realized she had the body language of one who is already weary from activity. I hope I gave her a story about the woman in the purple pajama pants and lavender t-shirt.

Joanne -

I just buy that small wheel of brie and cut off a small wedge in the morning to take with me. Seriously - I'll go get a Snickers bar or something if I don't have a proper snack with me at work.

Joe -

Thank you - I like to make it fun if I can.

I'll bet your postman doesn't mind. :)

Nothing beats fresh herbs... And they dress up the window nicely.

Sometimes I run out to the car or deck in my jammies, just as long as I don't get seen in the snow-flake ones out of season, I'm ok!
Some folks selling baby plants worry about them in their new home! I have several thymes this year on the deck, one grown, the others my own seedlings. I ate some in a stew yesterday. Makes me remember playing "Time in a Bottle" on the guitar when I use it. Your snack does look like a great combo-

The snack looks good. I'll be right over...

She probably thought you were on your way to WalMart. LOL

I want to grow herbs but just keep wanting it instead of doing it.

Never tasted brie. Love grapes.

Sage -

I loved that little oblong bucket and figured herbs would fit in nicely.

Louise is funny - she does take a certain ownership, which I like. I bought a iron planter from her a few years ago and she told me I needed to line it with peat. I said, "Line it? With peat? How?" She said, "Oh for Pete's sake, and did it for me." :)

Pearl -

Come on over!

Granny Annie -

I actually see people at the grocery store in their pajama pants, too. She probably did think that.

Herbs just need a sunny spot. They are easy peasy to grow. I've got basil and chives outside and oregano and thyme in the windowsill. I'm using the heck out of the basil and I need to figure out something to put the thyme in.

Brie has a delicate, buttery flavor - I love it. Probably too many calories, but better than a Snickers bar. :)

Hehe, the paper lady saw you in your jammies. I have a regular 9 p.m. hot flash, so I go out on my front porch or back deck, whichever is closer, and ... well, if the paper lady was there, she'd see more than my jammis. Love the snack of brie and grapes. :)

Mail folks are probably used to all kinds of clothing (or lack of). She must've been happy to see someone in tune with nature, like you, on her route.

I love brie with fruits and nuts...pricey but worth it! Enjoy your weekend, chica!

Pyjama pants and a t-shirt? Ha! I answered the UPS guy in lingerie in college. Not on purpose. He said, "Don't worry, mam, I have sisters!" Which made me think, 1. being 19, how old did I look since he called me mam? and 2. what the hell did his sisters wear around the house?!

I don't ever see my mail person. LOL

Gosh your lunch looked good and healthy.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Whatever you can get away with. :) Yes - that's my new favorite snack.

Scarlet -

Hmmm - I might add walnuts or almonds to that next time. Good idea.

Riot Kitty -

Lingerie, I would guess. :)

Sandie -

I like to "survey" in the morning. My grandmother used to love to walk in her back yard in the morning with a cup of coffee - I do the same except it's just potted plants. :)

Shionge -

Give it a go and let me know what you think!

Betty -

Thank you and big hugs to you!

I have to constantly move my herbs around to chase the sun, but it's worth it when you're cooking and you snip something fresh and vibrant. What a difference it makes to a dish!

I'm late replying, but hope you are in the midst of a glorious weekend, Lynn!

Kitchen window with herbs looks delightful. Beautiful shot, Lynn.

Yes, I bet the morning delivery peeps see way way more than they ever expected to when they took on the job. Bet YOU looked adorable!
