Thank you (I think), recipe from the wallet and always smiling

Some random good things from the week...

- As I was preparing to depart for home on Christmas day, my brother-in-law loaded this huge bag of  broccoli that a neighboring broccoli farmer gave them into my car.  Oh my.  I didn't know what to say.  So if you're presented with too much of something, you can always...

- ...make soup!  This cream of broccoli soup was good for lunch yesterday - a blustery day.  Last night I made mashed potatoes with broccoli.  It'll be broccoli all week.  :)

- Niece Abby's husband, Curtis, made a batch of my dad's famous barbeque sauce (a recipe dad always kept in his wallet.)  :)  My sister and I think we should make a cookbook called, "Recipes from the wallet" in honor of the number of other recipes he kept in there.

- I'll be leaving my two Christmas trees up until New Year's Eve - I've enjoyed them that much.  But it's probably time to slowly pack up the other things, such as the holiday salt and pepper shakers.  I've enjoyed them, too, for their unceasing smileyness.  :)

And I enjoy the weekend!  I hope you are looking forward to your weekend, too.  Have a great one.

Isn't is correct that broccoli can cause some unpleasant side effects? Just saying you might want to freeze some of it for later:)

Put me down for a Recipes From The Wallet cookbook. Can't wait. That is really a great idea.

My only Christmas decorations this year were the Rabbit's glittery balls:) Those brought lots of smiles also:)

Curious about that barbecue sauce... I like keeping the tree up to Epiphany

I doubt I'll take the Christmas stuff down until after New Year. Possibly not until the kids return to school. There is an official day, but I never remember when it is!

Broccoli overdose!

Thanks for asking about me at my blog...my netbook finally died a lingering death from the spray cleaner, and I had to buy a new laptop, which I love! In between, I wasn't on line.

Recipes from the wallet sounds perfect! I can see the graphics now, some well-loved folded up papers unfurled with springs of parsley and maybe some onions all around.

I made turkey soup for the first time in my life. -- Jim had 3 bowls of it for lunch. Score, I think!

Aww those salt and pepper shakers are too cute!

If there's one thing worth overdosing on, it's broccoli!

Ooh, I love broccoli. That soup looks fantastic!

A good recipe has a lot of value, so keeping it in one's wallet has a certain kind of logic to it.

Mmmm I love produce presents. I like broccoli alot. in rice too-
I like "Italian" best- spiced bread crumbs stirred onto cooked drained broccoli re-cooked in ample olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat very few minutes. Then there's with cheese sauce. Happy eats!

That sounds like a good book idea- maybe a small-sized one for pocket carrying. What will you bbq?
My Xmas lights are always on until New Year's Day. Fuzzy magnetic Santa n angels always stay up all year.
It may be awhile before the little outdoor tree lights get put away- it's getting snowed on tonight!
Have a wonderful Week-end.

Great name for a cookbook and I bet your dad's bbq sauce is amazing. I love family recipes!

That soup looks yummy, too. My kids love broccoli, of all vegetables, but I'm not sure they've had the broccoli soup without the cheese. Yours looks delicious!

Granny Annie -

I don't know - I eat it almost every day. Maybe I'm acclimated. :)

I wish we had enough of his recipes for a whole cookbook. He loved barbequeing and he liked making chocolate pie and pecan brittle (also in his wallet.) :) And somehow he got the recipe to the Red Lobster cheese biscuits. He loved baking bread.

I loved the Rabbit's glittery balls. :)

Sage -

I would do that, but I need to get the decorations down for various reasons.

Joe -

January 6 - the Ephipany.

lg -

I would LOVE that recipe!

Happy Happy New Year, my friend!

Michael -

It's pretty good - I had some again last night.

Mama Zen -

Truly.

Riot Kitty -

One of my friends suggested tying red bows around the broccoli heads and leaving them on doorsteps. :) I'd be the broccoli fairy.

FB -

I think I missed the story about the spray cleaner, but I am glad you are back!

Jannie -

I love the imagery of that scene you describe.

And turkey soup sounds yummy.

I figure you can never get too many vegetables.

Joanne -

Thank you - I love them, too.

Sparkling Red -

He figured that was the safest place for them. :)

Snaggle -

I read about all the snow up there - stay warm!

Thanks for the broccoli cooking tip - that sounds good!

I am late to the party as my computer needed a hospital stay. I love broccoli = a vegetable never served while I was growing up because my father didn't like it. Ditto pumpkin.
I don't think I could have too much of either.
It is New Year's Eve here - have a wonderful love filled New Year.
