All lined up, snow came and recorded for history

- Great niece Mina lined her dolls up on the fence, in a texted photo her mother called, "Yay Spring!"  Yay, indeed - just a week earlier there were pictures of her playing in the snow (in the DC area).

- Looking into my grandmother's Bible to see if she had recorded the exact birth date of a child who died in infancy.  (My sister is working on a genealogy project.)  And finding that inside the cover she had written various names and telephone numbers (a good place to keep them, I guess), some scripture references, and these words, "Snow came Jan. 12, 1982."

- There was a legendary snowfall that day in Georgia, almost six inches.  Stop laughing, you all in the north!  That's huge for the south.  And momentous enough for the family matriarch to record it in a treasured place.

Lordy. If I recorded every Michigan snow of six inches, there wouldn't be room left in the bible for Moses! ;-)

Mina's dolls are adorable. I bet she is, too.

PS--Baseball is here! I saw on Yahoo sports where one of the "experts" chose Justin Heyward as his longshot choice for MVP this year.

Hi Lynn .. love the line up - the weather is odd everywhere .. my birthday 13th Jan - it often snows in the UK .. but a few years ago -we had a six inch dump here on April 13th and a white out .. tomorrow we may get a sprinkling .. and it's been the coldest March for many a year ..

Fascinating to find the details stored in your grandmother's Bible ..

Cheers Hilary

I'm not laughing! It snowed that much here a few years ago and I got snowed in for a week.

Cute doll pic! looks warm too-
Well, maybe the family Bible is a good place to find things you don't want to lose- Even historical weather events. N yes, our last shoveling was over 8 inches here not long ago.

May get in the 50s tomorrow- yay. Today very cold n windy again.

Six inches of snow would be huge here too. Six centimetres of snow is unusual.
Love the sunny dolls.

Ha! I know - it's a way of life there. We get excited about one flake, but when it does snow, it locks down the city. :)

Mina is adorable - a fun, creative, smart kid (like her mom.)

And the J-Hey-Kid might be MVP? Awesome.

Sage -

I've been seeing those gorgeous beach photos of yours on facebook this week. I hope you are enjoying your vacation.

Joanne -

Yay spring, indeed!

Hilary -

I think spring is delayed for everyone. I always remember wearing a springy outfit around St. Patrick's Day before, but this year we've stayed in winter clothes until this week.

Cheers!

Sandie -

I'm so glad. :)

Mama Zen -

Thank you - who knew she had so many???

That snowstorm she wrote down was infamous in Atlanta, because it started after 3pm one day and all employers let everyone go home all at once, so traffic was gridlocked, while many cars ended up abandoned. There was one group who ended up back at the office I worked at then and were stuck there for days working. Thankfully - I got home OK.

My grandmother lived in Macon, Georgia. I guess it snowed there, too. I don't remember, but am glad she noted it for posterity.

Snaggle -

I think that Bible was a prized possession. I looked up the scripture references she wrote down, too.

Elephant's Child -

Sunny dolls - they are. Thank you.

lol - I love the dollie fence. Sweetness!

And, hey, six inches is a lot of snow if you aren't in a snowy region. (which I wish I wasn't mostly!)

Mina has an excellent doll collection. My inner child is jealous (but only a little).

I understand very well about the six inches of snow. Don't let those Northerners try to make you feel foolish. It is a big deal in South:~)

I loved all the pictures, but those dolls are adorable; they look like doll-flowers growing out the the ground.

About the family Bible, my brother got it. I really wish I had it. I remember seeing things in it that were amazing. A lot was written in the family bible, wasn't it?

Hold on a sec....

Six inches? BWHAHAHAHAHAH!!

Okay, all done. :D

Love that doll picture. Leave it to a little one to perfectly and properly sum up Spring.
