Morning walk, Daylilies, mailbox decor and home

Seen on a recent morning walk on the street where I live...

- These guys seem to be everywhere right now - Daylilies.  I used to see a therapist years ago after some trauma in my life and he was kind enough to let me come to his home for sessions (he was a family friend of a close friend).  His late wife had loved Daylilies and his back yard was full of them.  We used to walk the yard and he would tell me about each of them.  I realize  now that was probably part of the therapy - a gentle walk with quiet talk.  I will forever think of him when I see them blooming.

- Love the special decoration on this mailbox and wonder if the residents of the house behind it have a child who did that.  I like to think so.

- This pretty flower staunchly guards another mailbox along the way.  I spotted it in my first 1.5 mile up the street and snapped the photo on the return trip.

- And the best view of all - the driveway to my condos when my 3.0 mile walk was done.  A beautiful sight.

Happy 4th of July everyone who lives in the states!  And a belated happy Canada Day to my friends to the north.  :)

I'm heading to the hills tomorrow with no internet access, but will catch up with blogs on Sunday.

I love mailboxes like that. They make me smile when I come to them. There used to be one I delivered, and the family's name was Love. One of the kids had drawn stick family members and a cheery sun and had written "the Love family!" on it. It was really neat.

Whooo, heading to the hills, sounds exciting. Watch out for the bears!! :)

Mom & Dad have those lilies beside their front step, I think they've been there for 50 years, at least!

I skipped my walk today and had a donut. :)

I love seeing things that are there but most of the time we don't notice. Back when I could still walk up my hill, I would take my camera and snap pictures of things just as you did on your walk! Lovely flowers!!!

Have a LOVELY time, my dear, and a VERY HAPPY 4th of JULY!!!

Another gorgeous post. I love that you see, you capture and you share the small beauties (which aren't small at all). Thank you.
Have a great weekend.

Joanne -

Thank you - and you make me so happy with your wonderful recipes, I'm glad I can do the same for you.

FB -

I guess you do get to see all manner of mailboxes. This one made me smile, too.

Sage -

They are - whole banks of them in some spots. These were in front of the elementary school up the street.

Jannie -

I need those hills - my brain is tired. :) There are bears around sometime. That's why I never walk outside in the dark. :)

xoxo

p.s. A donut sounds good!

Lee -

I'll bet that one does make the mailman or lady happy.

I wish you could still do that. It makes me want to keep doing it. My photos were from my iPhone though - not bad for phone pics.

Thank you and I hope you have a happy 4th, too!

Elephant's Child -

Thank you - I love doing it. And these were all spontaneous shots - my phone was with me because of the iPod within. So handy - the iPhone...

Leonora -

Thank you! I'm so looking forward to it.

Riot Kitty -

I'm sure those rituals were intended, but I didn't see it like that at the time. He also used to make me a cup of tea and serve it with a couple of ginger cookies.

When I was out for a walk on Monday (Canada Day) there were masses of daylilies all over - in the park, and in peoples' gardens. They're so pretty!

That mailbox is a lot of fun. We don't have them in the UK and it's one of the things I notice the most when I'm in the States. It would be nice to think the one in your photo was painted by a child. :)

Hope your weekend is going well. :)
