- Feeling a sense of nurture as I water my (now straggly) outdoor plants in the early morning hour. I love this time when it's still dark out, no other sounds except the birds singing and the paper delivery lady making her rounds.
- Reading material for the weekend (other than a pile of magazines), Cop Town by Karin Slaughter (she is a friend) and Flannery O'Connor's prayer journal (she was a neighbor when I was a child growing up in Milledgeville, Georgia.) Two southern writers who, I'm certain, would have liked each other.
I hope you have a weekend full of peace and good reading. Have a great one!

Gosh that view out her window is just one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. So peaceful!
Be careful and watch the traffic. Everyone is heading here to our lake or they are heading to your river for the long holiday weekend. I am staying put and not having any company other than the ton of folks going up and down my front road,
Enjoy your wonderful place, n have a less stressful workday. I garden about 3am, n it is quiet then. I'm reading Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians this week.2nd printing in 1966.
Happy Labor Day to you!
I can see why you have that picture at-the-ready, on your computer....It is truly beautiful and so very peaceful! Calming in a lovely way.
Have a lovely relaxed weekend, my dear.....! And drive safe.
Beautiful image. Even on the screen its serenity reaches out to me.
Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend. And I am intrigued by the second of your books. Let me know what you think of it, and whether I should add it to my unread tower...
Oh to have that view out my window!!
Our weekend is watching our gr-daughters participate in Irish Dance Competition! We love them so!
Hi Lynn - you're so lucky to be able to share times with your sister and her family at this amazing delight of an area ...
Enjoy Labor Day weekend and all the fun of being at home, yet away ... cheers Hilary
So far so good on the weekend reading -- your blog! And the lyrics to a Peter Alsop song earlier this morning. Culling through a bunch of old vinyl LPs to either keep for wall art, or donate to Goodwill, I discovered him. There are 3 of his albums altogether. Interesting artwork on them. And what a funny random song I chose to read off the back of one of the covers, called "When You Ask Me First." He seems like quite the character!
Not sure what other reading I will do this weekend, but I am reminded by this post to order 2 books that fellow bloggers have penned.
So, did you take the river photo from their porch or were you at a distance from the back of their home? Curious me! :)

It would be difficult to drag yourself away from a view like that...how tranquil. I think I'd be spending more of my time looking at it, drifting away with my thoughts than reading.
I'm sure you'll have a lovely, relaxing weekend. :)
Wow, you were O'Conner's neighbor. You will have to enlighten us. I'm curious about her prayer journal.
That is a beautiful view and I'm assuming you are now looking at it for real, so I hope you have a wonderful weekend Lynn. I'm just about to face about 60 people in my home so I really could do with being there too!
Have fun on your long weekend away!! That is a gorgeous view.
Ugh, work! I do that too sometimes; take a break to look at kitten pictures or pretty landscapes.
Congratulations on the new baby in your family! :-)
Now that scene is very cool. Wish my job would allow me to put backgrounds on mine. Got a few that would do wonders for my sanity.
Father Nature's Corner
I had no idea Flannery O'Connor was your neighbor! That is fascinating.
I love early morning, too.
