The road, welcoming stranger and worth it

- A glorious weather day. Could this be November? The photo is from the miles of countryside passed on a work road trip to visit the Covington, Georgia campus of DeKalb Technical College.

- I choose the wrong building in which to look for my client. I tap on the glass door of a woman who is intently typing to ask direction. Her face lights up with a huge smile, "How are you???" I ask if we have met and she says I just look so familiar. She walks outside with me and sends me in the right direction. I think we should all welcome strangers like that; I know it made my day.

- The oil change man sticks his head in the waiting room door and says, "You must do a lot of driving." Between work and family visits, I sure do. (The mileage since the last oil change gave it away.) If all work visits could be as pleasant as the one yesterday with all the nice technical school employees (and friend Rose) - then it is entirely worth it.

I hope you have a great weekend, my friends!

The only way to greet misguided and/or lost souls.

I do it all the time.

Smiles make or break many a day.

So thank you for my smile today.

I like barns. I have a couple of miniature barns around the house along with my nine thousand other knick knacks.

I love the barn shot! It definitely doesn't look Novemberish in your landscape there.

So true - positive energy is just so nice. It lights everything up.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend, Lynn!

Lynn~ It's funny that you speak of this...are we living parallel lives, I wonder? Yesterday, I too, was in the waiting area to get my car worked on and I came into the little waiting room, and a beautiful gentile southern women in her early 70's greeted me with a huge smile and most graciously...kinda like she always knew me. We had a long and FUN conversation about the bear she sees daily at her home (and recently one on her back porch!)in Lansing. N.C. She was sooo delightful; dressed in a white winter coat with white fur around her hood... We aprted ways with her saying "My, this was fun...I do hope that we meet again!" Maybe she was an angel? (That's my whimsical nature coming out!!) :) TGIF TGIF Lynn!! Thanks for the post today. It 'made my day.'

Happy Friday Lynn!!

I love the photo of the barn!

And the weather here, too - has been really wonderful...I'll take it while I can!

G -

I'm glad you do that, G - it's a lovely thing to do.

Ellis -

So true and you are welcome - I am glad I could make you smile.

This one seems to be standing alone and abandoned. I had to pull into the rural firehouse driveway across the street to take the photo. I cropped out the power lines. :)

Talon -

It is chamber of commerce weather here - just lovely.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend, too. :)

I'm glad I could do that and yes, we had similar experiences yesterday. I do think of people like that as angels and wonder if they realize the positive effect they have on our day.

Thanks for sharing, lg! xo

Lance -

I saw a posting on facebook of someone in Wisconsin waxing poetic over the lovely weather in the 50s. I'm glad it is reaching that far north. Cheers, Lance!

I love driving especially at night time when the roads are quiet.

The weather here at the moment looks similar, but just colder!

Have a lovely weekend!

Great pic! Love those country sheds, n always wonder what's inside-
Great when folks are happy to help us out, n treat you as a friend.
When I drove to FL n back years ago the oil Change guys were amazed I'd managed to put on 3k miles in 3 weeks, n tried to tell me it was too soon for the oil change, til they saw the odometer!

You seem to mention driving in almost every post- n have a great diversity of pics from all over to prove it!
We're doing cold this week-

My first reaction to that photo is I want to write some words in that big white space.

I think you draw friendliness to you!

Happy weekend to you too.

xoxo

I agree with Jannie, that you definitely draw friendliness to you, Lynn. But I also love the idea of greeting strangers with genuine warmth -- altho if you had to greet strangers regularly, such as when I worked at Perimeter Mall once upon a time, well, you'd resort to a fake smile after a while just from sheer exhaustion, I think.

That weather is something else! Glorious is the right word. :)

I'm always grateful for sweet strangers. I try to be one when I have the chance.

Sounds like you've been having a good time with lovely encounters. I guess they say when you meet someone you feel you know, you may have known them in another life.

Gorgeous countryside.

Riot Kitty -

We had a beautiful weekend - it's raining this morning though. All good. :)

Joe -

I like country drives very much, too.

Hope your weekend was good.

Snaggle -

I didn't realize I mentioned driving so much - I guess I do so much of it that it becomes a part of life.

Jannie -

I wonder if that white space was were a banner had been.

And thank you for saying so - maybe I do. xo

Meredith -

That's an interesting job - greeting at a mall. I guess one would get tired of smiling in that case.

Sparkling Red -

I can imagine you doing that. We have an opportunity to make others' day each day.

Wendy -

That's an interesting thought - I like the notion of that.

Hope your weekend was good.
