Lining up for art, train travel and impromptu

- In my quest to not put a parking garage owner's kids through college by the exorbitant fees they charge - I get a good mile walk in when I visit my client. There is such lovely scenery on the way, including the High Museum of Atlanta. I love that school kids are lined up to see either Henri Cartier-Bresson prints or Toulouse-Lautrec and Friends.

- My sister and niece have arrived in New York City after a 19 hour train trip that began in Jacksonville, Florida. I love the updates from facebook about the trip - Amanda wrote yesterday morning that she was lying in bed watching Washington, DC go by. Her friend Brent (who is a stitch) said, "The Wright brothers, you should look them up sometime, their invention changed the world." Ha! I love that these two, who don't like to fly, had this adventure.

- Hearing that my mother went up to a party at her assisted living facility only to find that it is tomorrow. A woman there decided to give her a party anyway and sat down at the grand piano to play mom's favorite tunes from the 40s and 50s. She said, "Oh honey, I enjoyed that so much!" May more good things like that come her way.

And may many good things come your way this weekend, my friends! I hope you have a great one!

Hey, better than finding out the party was yesterday, eh! I did that once for a birthday party Kelly was invited to, felt like The Worst Mom On The Planet. Then I got my iPhone, and ever since have kept dates nicely organized on my digital calendar.

Art -- worth lining up for sure.

I LOVE train travel.

I hope yours is a glorious weekend too!

xoxo

Yes Lynn~ May good things come your way as well. We need to pray for and support our local colleges~yes! Anyway we can...our local college here (that my son attends) just announced that they are looking at 22,000,000.00 (22 Million?:-) ) in budget cuts for the next year (in North Carolina...)

I always think the journey is more important than the destination and train travel gives you some time to really take it in.

A private concert - how absolutely beautiful!

Thank you. Wishing you an abundance of good and beautiful things, Lynn.

Oh, Lynn -- Sometimes it's so delightful to visit your posts. I've had a touch time this week and each of these "3s" made me smile. I especially love the one about your mom.

Thanks for smiles:~)

Train travel is wonderful! I love that your relatives decided to do this.

A private party with custom-designed music. What a joy people can be sometimes! Thanks for sharing this one, Lynn. May you also have many, many good things coming your way. :)

Yeah for the train! Is the Cartier-Bresson exhibit a traveling one. I don't remember seeing it at the High, but I did see an exhibit of his work in the 80s in Dallas.

I've never been on a long train trip, but I think I would prefer it to the hassle of airports and the nasty canned air you have to breathe during the flight. It sounds like a fun adventure.

A mile away? Good for you. You must have good walking shoes.
Wow what a long line- Makes me want to go there. Sounds like your Sis n Niece had a good journey, even if it didn't save time! What nice people at your Mom's home! Singing at the piano in always a good time-
Have a good Week-end!

Walking is good. Train rides are good. Mom being serenaded with her favorite music is priceless.

Hi Lynn,

I just found your blog and I wanted to tell you that I LOVE THE NAME! Good things happened. I love your positivism. Your mom's little story, what a wonderful time she had "a private party." I really like those.

Jannie -

I just rode a passenger train once - a loooong time ago - to Savannah, Georgia. It was cool. :)

Oh - how I have supported colleges - pretty much paid for all of my own education. :)

Talon -

Wasn't that nice - not sure who that woman was who provided the music. An angel, I guess.

Sara -

Thank you for coming my - I'm glad I could make you smile.

happygirl -

We are all a bit calendar challenged in my family. :)

Riot Kitty -

That building was actually featured in a movie that depicted it as a solitary prison for Hannibal Lector in a film called Manhunter made in 1986. Cool huh?

Meredith -

And may many good things come your way, too, my friend.

Sage -

I'm not sure if that exhibit travels or not - I have yet to see it.

Sparkling Red -

I would like a train adventure sometime, but I don't have the vacation days to accommodate a long travel trip, so it's the plane for me.

Snaggle -

Yes - good walking shoes. :)

Granny Annie -

That IS priceless. I like that.

canyoube nice -

I'm glad you like my blog - thanks for stopping by. I'll check yours out, too. :)
