- The last of the Dogwood tree blossoms in the condos. It warmed up so early this year that the Dogwoods peaked days ago, but there is still a festival in their honor this weekend at Atlanta's Piedmont Park.
- A late afternoon pedicure, in which the color I choose is called "Haute Hippie" - a lovely aubergine shade. My favorite nail lady is originally from Vietnam, but speaks a few words of English and I love that her salutation is spoken with a delightful Southern accent, "How are yewwww?"
- A discussion with a security guard who admires my sunglasses. I have to think for a minute where they came from and am astounded and pleased that I have hung on to this pair of shades since 2003.

They dogwoods are just popping open here. I always think the nail ladies in the shop are talking about me. My sunglasses are prescription and progressives, so I keep them as long as possible, but 2003? That's a LONG time.
Did you know that the dogwood blooms are said to represent to Christians the cross of Jesus? The red tips at the end of each flower are for the blood from the nails and the center is the crown of thorns. I think there is more to the legend but I can't remember it all. Since it always blossoms around Easter,it seems appropriate.
I have never gone to a professional manicurist but I often pass their shops and am tempted to stop in.
Ha! I've still had my sunglasses longer.
Lynn~ Sorry, what color is this?
:) Trying to pictures you...and with your shades!

"a lovely aubergine shade?" oops.

You are first! They were talking about me one day - I used to go in there just after the gym and they were having a discussion in which the name of the gym kept popping up. They got the lady who speaks English the best to ask me questions about it. :)
Here's the story of the sunglasses:
I am known for tripping over things and general clumsiness - and I had a terrible fall in downtown Atlanta in May 2003. I tripped over a grate in the sidewalk and went down, hitting a concrete wall first and then the sidewalk. My scraped up self sat up and was looking at a sea of high heeled legs - a group of professional women were walking up the sidewalk together and saw the whole thing. The first words out of my mouth were: "I LOVED these sunglasses." My Guess sunglasses were crushed and I had black eye, scraped up nose, chin, shoulder and knee. The guy in the emergency clinic asked, "How did you manage to involve so many body parts?" I don't know, but as I was going down, I thought, "This is going to be bad." But I got my current pair of Liz Claiborne sunglasses from that accident and still like them, but not as much as those Guess shades. :)

Yes - I did know, but thanks for sharing here. It is so appropriate for them to bloom at Easter. We have such a late Easter this year though.
Good job on keeping up with your sunglasses and do stop in sometime and have a mani/pedi - it's an inexpensive treat.

Aubergine is a deep reddish purple-brown color. Heavy on the purple in this case. I wanted something in a spring-like hue for Easter. :)
I'm surprised, after your early heat, that there are any blooms left, but glad there are some for the festival. I can't wait until we see some blooms around here - always seems to take way too long, though it's a rare spring when they're blooming before May.
Aubergine always reminds me of eggplants which are a beautiful shade.
(That) sounds like a pretty color!
The dogwoods

lasted so long
I used to lose about one pair of glasses per year (or more.) I've had the current ones for almost a decade...knock on wood :)
The dogwoods haven't even gotten started yet up here.
You're so far ahead of us, just seeing buds today. I haven't even considered sandles yet- Some folks learn to fir right in!
My old fav sunglasses broke- they were "Panama Jack" haven't seen any like them since. Tough to find the same ones again.
I just read about your Grate accident- hope these glasses last a goos log time!
oh no- "fit " in!

The pink dogwoods were particularly beautiful this year. And they still seem to have the most blossoms.

I also have a pair of Ralph Lauren sunglasses I bought on a whim once - I wear them sometimes, but this mostly worn pair I keep in my car are my favorites.

I'll bet Michigan is beautiful when things are blooming - hope that is soon!

I knew what you meant. :) We had a bit of a "cold" front move in the last couple of weeks - temps are nice right now, perfect for talking walks.
