- A sign seen by two friends, Jesse and Eric, at lunch yesterday. Jesse presented their two possible interpretations:
1. Don't go up to customers devoid of warm emotion, be full! (Eric)
2. Don't be lazy, carry stuff, pick up stuff off tables. (Jesse)
They asked one of the waiters. It was 2, but I like 1 better.
- Walking up to a building for a meeting and encountering a young lady getting off a little silver scooter. She is wearing a red skirt and matching red helmet and cool glasses. I almost tell her she will be a Good Thing, but decide the explanation is too long and possibly alarming.
- I am supposed to be reading two books for my two different book groups, "Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide" by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn and "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" by Jonathan Safran Foer. But I am enjoying the delightfully predictable "Folly Beach" by Dorothea Benton Frank. Sometimes a lighthearted book is just what the doctor ordered. :)

Especially don't walk toward me with empty hands, especially when you're supposed to be bringing me my food! LOL
No picture of the lady in red? Shucks!
Suddenly I am craving lighthearted books and movies. This is extremely opposite of my usual mystery and drama selections. Shall look for FOLLY BEACH.
Granny Annie -
I have loved all of Dorothea Benton Frank's novels - they are usually set in the low country and I think they are perfectly delightful. I've read all of them. I'm glad you will look for Folly Beach, but you can find the others, starting with Sullivan's Island.
Neat sign! And yes, sometimes light reading is the prescription!
Lynn,
I agree about the book. There are some many times I pick books I "should" read because the writer is well known, but instead pick up the one that looks like fun to read:~)
Isn't funny how you select new and unknown books? I do a lot looking at the cover, the text inside and the texture of the paper. I will not pick a book solely based on this, but it does matter to me. Who knows why?
Lynn~ That little lady with the red skirt sounds like she belongs in Paris. They always wear or carry something red.
Now I am curious. What is the Good Thing? Great image btw!
The image of scooter girl is delightful. Great way to travel, I think!!
I agree on the light-heartedness being a cure. For all!
The first book sounds heavy. But maybe for a good cause. We are SO LUCKY to live in a relatively non-oppressive society for women. And folks in general.
I think I need one of those "Please don't leave the car with empty hands" for Kelly to read! :) Groceries, trash, backpacks, clothes and such. She is getting better with time tho. Just needs a friendly reminder most days. :)

Welcome home, my friend! I need the light reading right now.

That's the bad thing about being in two book clubs - we are always looking for relevant. Maybe I should start a third one for trash fiction. :) (Although Ms. Frank's books certainly aren't trash. I kick a kick out of them because they always seem to have the same middle aged heroine who knows the southern ways of living well.) :)

That's so cool! Hey - I have a red purse I carry sometimes - that will make me think I look french from now on.

I think that sign is something that could just apply to everyday living - I might print it out and keep it at my desk. :)
The good thing in the first two things is that they made me smile. The good thing in the third thing is that I was hard pressed to come up with a third thing and just thought I'd share the books I'm reading.
I had set the post to publish at 6am and was running out of time - I do that sometimes so I won't lollygag.

Women hold up "half the sky." I do look forward to reading that - I'm a little stressed right now, so I need to put it off a bit.
Good idea on the sign for Kelly!
I love the one about the lady in red getting off the scooter...that'll be me when I'm 80! ;)
I like explanation 1 myself. :) Cute sign.
I need to read more and now that the fall is coming I will get off FB more and do just that!
I am reading "Backseat Saints" by Joshilyn Jackson. I keep telling you, if you like southern writers, she's your gal.
Don't ask - SHOOT!
I'd love to see my scooter sister and her cool outfit...
you ROCK, Lynne

At work I always say "Never waste a trip" n push soon needed racks across the building when going to get a drink or to the restroom- saves walking more later, the feet get sore as it is!
Wish I had $ to save gas bux with a new scooter! Matching it? Priceless.
That first book sounds very helpful- but self-help can be dry. I always read Star Wars series (set after the films stories) for fun. Love the creativity of different worlds n non-human sentinents. What would the reading groups do with that?
Alot to be said for the enjoyment factor!

I could see that being you at 80. You will be the cool chica.

Noted! I will check out Ms. Jackson's books right away.

You rock, too, my friend. :) It was one of those things that my camera was down in my purse and this gal was coming up the hill toward me. I smiled at her and thought how vivid she looked.
Snaggle -
That's very smart of you to multi task like that. I know that must be a tiring job.
Oh Jesse, how we think alike. And, yeah, I would have loved seeing scooter girl, too.

It's all in perspective, isn't it? :)
