- A slightly fuzzy photo, but the detail on this dollhouse is just too beautiful not to share. From the children's book seller at a holiday open house on Saturday. The book seller made it. He mentioned that another dollhouse he had made for a granddaughter had been sold at a yard sale, so wanted to make sure this one went to a home who would keep it. It's beautiful and lovingly created. And I was so touched by this story that I bought one of his old books, "Five Little Peppers and How They Grew."
- A niece always photographs and shares the glorious sunsets over the farmland around where she lives and works. One of her friends commented on facebook, "I was admiring the beautiful sunset and thought to myself, 'I bet ALM is taking a picture of this right now.' I know you too well. :)"
- Hearing that Santa Claus is Coming to Town on the Muzak at Macy's the weekend of 11/9 and that It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas on the Muzak at the aforementioned open house. The music is chipping away at me and so I am beginning to be more accepting of Santa's pending visit. :)

What a gorgeous dollhouse. And I'm ready for the Christmas music. Bring it on.
That's the master plan - wear us down with twinkling lights and tinny music. :)
Dollhouses are so fascinating...some I would like to shrink down so I could live in them. :)
I wish I had been at that yard sale to buy the doll house. AND..I'm willing to bet whoever bought it turned around and sold it for an amount that would make the book seller proud.
Talon, it's a pity you couldn't shrink down to live in the houses. I could:)
I am so ready for Christmas time, but not for Christmas. =) That is a truly beautiful doll house. You can feel the love poured into a project like that.
Deck the halls with boughs of turkey... :)
Wow, I wouldn't mind finding one of those at a yard sale! just beautiful. A lot of love went into that for sure.

What an incredible dolls house. An heirloom.
I am sooooo not ready for Christmas. But need to get the fruit for my cakes soaking soon. Yesterday would be good.
I feel that we turned a corner this weekend into Christmas Time. 1) The office "Holiday Party" was on Saturday; 2) the Santa Claus parade was on Sunday; 3) a huge windstorm blew all the remaining leaves off the trees last night; 4) my "adult contemporary" clock radio station switched to all-Christmas-music programming as of this morning. There's no denying it now.
That dollhouse is so cool! I'd have died to have when I was young.
#3! I noticed this as well when I was at the mall last week. "Chipping away" is a good way to put it. I hate to get tired of it by Christmas.
Wow! How long would it take to make something like that?
As a kid I loved miniatures - now my little sister does. I wonder if this stuff runs in the genes.
Hi Lynn .. that's an amazing doll's house .. I do love them, but don't think I ever had one - well not one I can remember .. I suspect it was blankets strung across chairs and tables etc ..
How lovely that he was going to ensure this dollshouse went to a good home .. his books sound great for children ..
Christmas is coming isn't it - but the sunny days just make things brighter and happier .. cheers Hilary

I think I'm ready now. :)

Yes - that's it! :)
And look out at the giant people looking in!
Granny Annie -
I know - that would be a yard sale treasure, for sure. I hope it is in a little girl's room and that she loves it. I'm sorry his granddaughter didn't want to keep it - I could tell that was a wound that still runs deep.
Crystal -
Yes - I feel the same way, although I have bought a few Christmas presents already.
So much love there - you are right. And thanks for coming by!
Jannie -
Ha! I know - not even turkey day yet and we're talking Christmas.

Elephant's Child -
I'm so glad to hear someone still makes fruitcake - my grandmother made it and I loved it.
Sparkling Red -
I love your wry sense of humor. :) Yes - there's no denying it now. And I think all those leaves came down and landed on my back porch. :)

I know - I had one, but it was painted metal. :)
Leonora -
It's amazing how much earlier it seems to start every year - before you know it, it'll be Labor Day when it starts. :)
Riot Kitty -
That makes for great present choosing for her, I'll bet.

We always loved making "tents" like that when we were kids. :)
Cheers to you!
I like the photo. There's something mesmerizing about it.
Ah...Santa is Coming to Town gets stuck not in the chimney, but definitely in my head:~)
I love taking pictures, but am terrible at sunsets. I never try sunrises because I'm usually not up that early, but oh, I'd love to be a good sunset photographer. So, tell you niece I envy her!
My daughter is requesting Christmas carols, but I'm trying to hold off until after Thanksgiving.
That is an incredible Dolls House and such a sad story about the one he made and gave to his granddaughter...How could they do that???
I cannot believe it will be Christmas in a minute and a half---and 2014 before you know it!
Why do I know "Five little Peppers And How They Grew"?? I cannot remember where I know that from....
Such a beautiful doll house! And I used to LOVE Five Little Peppers and How They Grew!!
That dolls house is amazing. I'd love to make something like that, but can't think who'd want it once I'd made it.
I hope a little girl gets years of play out of that amazing dollhouse-
Your niece is a sunset capturer too- a grand hobby I think! Muzak usually drives me crazy without lyrics- Especially orchestrated Beatles for some reason. plus, I always want to sing aloud... Xmas isin't ready for me yet-
