The goat, once in a lifetime and pretty in pink

- When friend Janice and I sipped coffee beside some shelves of wine at a coffee / wine shop last weekend, I was inspired to snap a photo of this South African wine "La Capra", because of its whimsical label, depicting a goat carrying a tower of things on its back:  three wine barrels, a globe, a violin, a farm worker, a fork, and a big wedge of cheese with three musical performers dancing on top.  (Click to enlarge.)  According to their website, all these things are available at the vineyard / farm where the wine is produced (and there's an annual music festival there every year, too.)  Delightful and I'll bet that's a fun place to work.

- Being the first one to be seated for lunch at a cantina near work and while waiting for a client to join me, witnessing two of the restaurant workers taking a moment to dance to The Talking Heads "Once in a Lifetime" that was playing in the background.

- One of the dancers turns out to be our waiter and we admire her pink necklace, which consists of a miniature framed portrait of Molly Ringwald, circa 1986.

Do you think the goat is supposed to be a scape goat? They tend to carry all the blame on their backs.

Would love to see the wait staff take a moment to trip the light fantastic. Would be a good sign that they were in the right mood for serving my meal. The necklace would also make the waitress appear quite charming.

When I used to visit my brother, who lives in Yorkshire, we used to go to a diner where the restaurant workers used to get up and dance on the work tops to certain songs. I loved it because it was always 50's music and I used to request songs for them to play. This is long before I became a dj. :D

All cool stuff, Lynn. I love checking out wine bottle labels...they're always distinctive and unique. And spontaneous dancing is always a good thing. :)

My sister-in-law collects wine bottle labels. She keeps them in a scrapbook. She has some that are hilarious. I wonder who comes up with these.

Tough song to dance to, must've been a joy to watch.

People watching is the easiest, cheapest and quite possible the best form of entertainment out there today.

Hi Lynn - thanks - you've given me an inspiration for a blogpost - not that I really need those .. but it'd be helpful if I didn't have to think much at the moment!

Thanks - and I'll be over for that glass of vino!! Cheers - Hilary

Oh, so cool on the Molly Ringwald.

I like wine labels too. I pointed out a gorgeous wine one to Jim today at Trader Vic's, all gold and lovely. It was on a $17.99 bottle tho, and I am a Big Fan of my $3.33 Cul-De-Sac Pinot Grigio. :) Still, we can appreciate the heart and soul that goes into a lovely label.

LOVE the dancing bit so much too, and the beauty you share. And are!

Granny Annie -

I think you might have something there with the scape goat thing!

It is a charming place and I hit it just before they got busy, so loved witnessing the trip to the light fantastic. :)

Joe -

They do that a Joe's Crabshack here, too. But this was just an impromptu dance.
