Special vase, spring cleaning and girls' night out

- Purple and white iris found at Whole Foods yesterday.  My mother planted these around our family home and I always loved to see them blooming when I was growing up and later, when I visited in the spring.  She remarked once that she might pick some for inside the house, but didn't really have a good vase for them.  So I got her this one for Mothers Day, probably 20 years ago and it seemed just the vessel for them now.

- Coming home to a clean home on Friday, after once-in-a-while cleaner Colin has been by.  A special treat for the first week of spring.

- The dinner group party planned for Saturday night at friend Jennifer's house fell apart because two husbands were out of town.  So it was fun to have a girls' night out at the wonderful Wahoo Grill in Decatur, Georgia.  And I took their photo in front of a nearby tattoo parlor to text to their husbands.  :)

Hi Lynn - the vase is lovely .. and I used to buy irises to go with daffodils for my mother when she was ill .. they are just beautiful and add that lovely blue/purple.

What fun having supper out .. and texting a tattoo parlour photo to said hubbies ...

Brilliant and then a clean home - can you send Colin over please! Actually I'm doing a bit of SC now myself .. cheers Hilary

Note to self: bring home flowers more often. My wife's collection of lovely vases needs to be used more often.

Thank you for the timely reminder!

No tattoos done?

When the irises bloomed, my mother knew it was time to set out onion bulbs, and set out tomatoes.

Nothing like irises. I bet she loved that vase!

Your condo is so nice, how sweet to come home to it super spic-and-span, sweet!! Hope Colin's on his way to my house? :) xoox

Love the iris, their vase, and the memories. And 100 iris bulbs for us to plant arrived this week. Magic times ahead (after the work).
Girls' night out are sooo much fun. I need to go on one soon.

Every time you mention the Wahoo Grill, I think of my brother (that was his nickname from childhood) and I smile. :) Thanks for that! And the blooms look stunning!

Those are beautiful! That sounds like a fun place, too. I'd go there just for the name.

I cannot wait for my Iris and daffodils to bloom. So far there is no color around my home. Maybe just a little green starting to show sprinkled around in the brown grass.

Can you play the game Wahoo at the Wahoo Grill? If so, my entire family would gather there.

Hahahaha! I love the image of you taking photos of the girls outside the tattoo parlour, Lynn. :)

We irises growing when I was a kid. I've not seen them in years and years (dead give-away...it's been years and years since I was kid)!!

Lynn~So smart; walking into a clean home! Good idea! Lovely vase you picked out as well. Snowing here today so no flowers, yet. :-(

A vase to put the flowers in
I found when I cleaned
Now there will be time
For us girls to swing

The vase is in a special place
So I could see it all day
Now as I move the dust around
I think how us girls will play

This vase was once my mothers
The flowers I picked you see
Now that all the work is done
It’s time for us girls to flee

So no photo of the tats then? I'm disappointed. :D

That was a cool idea of texting the picture of women near the tattoo palor:~)

It's delightful to have someone clean the house for you. Sometimes it's better than a massage. You come home and everything is neat, unlike how my house usually is.

I have a vase given to me by my girls and I love to use it. When I fill with flowers, I think of them. Thanks for the reminder, I need to add some flowers to that vase as I haven't done it awhile.

My mother had Irises in her garden too. Love when you get to use the old gifts. Wish I had a cleaner helper- especially with the floors. Girls nights are the best- Glad you have such fun.

Hilary -

I think it is, too. Oddly enough - she never used it for fresh flowers, but put some silk flowers in it. :)

It was fun and I'm certain Colin would be happy to fly over and clean. :)

Cheers to you!

Carmi -

Yes - do that for her and yourself - they are so nice to have around.

Susan -

No. :) That's a lovely way to calendar that delightful planting.

Jannie -

I think so. And he does a pretty good job - an excellent job on cleaning the kitchen and bathroom. A pretty good job vacuuming the carpet and a terrible job at dusting. :)

Elephant's Child -

Wish I lived closer - I'd be scheduling that girls' night out with you.

Yes - magic times ahead for you. Love that.

I love that I made you smile and have a nice memory.

Riot Kitty -

They have a lovely enclosed garden that you can sit in to dine - I love it there.

Granny Annie -

It will be there before you know it. (Spring.)

And no Wahoo game at the Wahoo Grill, but I have heard that is a fun game. :)

Lee -

Lots of laughing that night - it was fun.

lg -

So sorry about the snow, but the flowers are there just ready to pop out soon!

No tats. :)

Sara -

I hope you get yourself some flowers. And I totally tidy for him - so funny to clean up for "the maid." :)
