Special gift, the wolf moon and mighty fine

- My sister got me this vase for Christmas after I admired it in a shop in the North Carolina mountains back in July.  I had actually checked to see if it was still there when I visited in September, but it wasn't (because she had bought it for me.)  I put some flowers in it and texted her this photo on New Year's Day, saying, "Happy New Year!"  She liked that.

- The moon was huge, golden and gorgeous on Tuesday night, January 6.  A Google search tells me it was the "Wolf moon" - so called by Native Americans because of the howling of hungry wolves that often accompanied it at the height of winter.  I got a glimpse of it ahead of me through the trees, as I was driving home from volunteer work.  It kept peeking at me, here and there, until I arrived home. Click on the link here to see an amazing photo of a plane crossing in front of that moon in Los Angeles, California.

- After a long day and then a meeting at the church that was also long, a simple supper of avocado on toast.  Drizzled with olive oil and topped with a little shredded parmesan cheese - it was mighty fine.

I hope you have a mighty fine weekend!

Your sister is a good girl. How smug she must feel to know you went looking for the vase again and thought it was gone forever only to find it waiting for you. I feel your joy.

Yes that moon was spectacular.

I am trying my best to stay ahead of a batch of avocados. Not a one was ready when I bought them and I thought I would enjoy them as they ripened only to realize they were ripening at the same pace and I have to hurry.

Hi Lynn - lovely vase and clever sister! Gorgeous flowers too ...

Sounds like the moon was fabulous ... I certainly didn't realise it was a Wolf Moon ...

Then the avo on toast ... what a great supper dish .. and time for an exhausted bed ... cheers Hilary

You have a sweet, sweet sister. That is the only good reason for a favored item to go missing from the store- someone who loves you bought it for you.
Your simple supper is right up my alley! The Parmesan puts it over the top : )

Lovely vase, how nice that your sister bought it for you!

I'm not sure I've wished you a Happy New Year yet Lynn! I've kinda been out the loop it seems like forever!

That vase fits right in with your decor, n the flowers you treat yourself with-
There's a green comet near Orion now I hear, but it's been cloudy every night here lately (snow showers) so haven't seen it or that moon aside from good pics pointed out to me-
I don't eat avocados yet. Tried a bagel with it at work but didn't like it. Must be an acquired taste.
