Fun distraction, celebration of life and hello living room

Love this!

- I can't wait to share this with the biggest Elvis Presley fan I know - my friend Ronnie.  This wee one must have a DVD player that she gets to watch while riding in the car (niece Abby has found that helpful with Monroe on long car trips, although he generally falls asleep watching it - maybe that's the point.)  Anyway - it gave me a chuckle this morning.  Stick with it - it's a fun five + minutes.

- Attending a funeral home visitation that sounded for all the world like a cocktail party, as I approached the room.  It turned out to be a true celebration of a life ended too soon.

- Getting stuck in a terrible traffic jam that clogged side streets in the suburbs - a very unusual thing really.  (It was due to a gas main break on a pivotal intersection.)  Not that that is a good thing, but in the 2.5 hours I was in it, there was only one ridiculous person (behind me, of course) acting like a fool (horn blowing, etc. #pointless).  What I liked was that everyone else sucked it up and dealt with it.  When I finally saw my living room at 8pm, I wanted to give it a hug.

I hope life is being good to you today and that you find someone to give a hug to (even if it is your living room.)  :)  Have a great weekend!

There's one in every crowd. What do they think, that if they blow their horn, everyone will suddenly disperse?

While I am sorry for the loss, I love that family and friends did celebrate a life cut short. Much the best way to remember someone, with love and laughter mingling with the tears.

Wow, you are patient. I would probably have gotten out of my car and had words with the guy.

Sorry about the person you lost! Was it someone you were very close too?

In genuine sincerity, that sounded like a fun funeral (not funny ha-ha, but fun in a warm way).

That video clip is fabulous! That baby was really in sync with the music and lyrics, so often...incredible! I loved it!

As for the honker...there's one in every crowd!

Munir -

Yes - love the earnest look on her face as she is singing along with Elvis.

Talon -

It is cute and thank you.

FB -

She put her bright lights on me at one point when I let about one car space get between me and the car in front of me. A most unpleasant woman.

Elephant's Child -

Absolutely - and they had a lot of his woodworking items out for display. It was lovely.

Riot Kitty -

I would have liked to, but it's probably not safe.

No - I didn't know him, although I might have met him at a wedding. He was my friend Ginny's nephew. Ginny is sort of the matriarch of her family now since her siblings are dead - she was so distraught that I wanted to support her. Her nephew died in a house fire and was getting out of the house safely when he decided to go back in for something (no one knows what) and didn't make it out. So sad.

It was wonderful to go in that room and give hugs. I'm so glad they are all doing so well.

Lee -

Yes - the honker is probably just lovely to live with. :)

I hate being so late commenting but this time I am glad. My son was here to watch the video with me. He loved his wee ones so much a still enjoys watching kids do such neat things. Hard to believe his daughter seemed this age yesterday and now is a senior in high school.

Sounds like you attended the type of funeral I want to have:)

Today is definitely a hug day around here. My son, my granddaughter, my grand-dog and my dog Slim.

Aw, what a cute little girl! I love the "Hi Daddy!" "Hi Ella" exchanges. And every time she throws her arms up in the air, I want to tickle her. :-)

Granny Annie -

I'm so glad you got a lot of hugs yesterday! I wish more of that for you.

And I'm glad you and your son loved the video. I watched it again a couple of times - that dad clearly has a wonderful relationship with little Ella.

They grow up so quickly don't they?

Sparkling Red -

I know - so cute!

Cloudia -

It did, for sure. Good to see you!

Joanne -

I'm glad and yes, it was a real tribute to a wonderful man.
