Rolling pins, Monday treat and fallen leaves

- That was my grandmother's well-used rolling pin - there by itself on the next to last rung of this wrought iron rack that was meant to hold wine.  (Or so I was told by the ladies who run the shop in mountains, where I bought it last July.)  I also owned a french rolling pin (the one on the bottom in the back.)  All the others were rolling pins I have picked up since then, thinking more is better when you are displaying a collection.  The one on the top is a "cookie" rolling pin and the one with the bumps is a "noodle" rolling pin.  I might have gotten carried away - it's a bona fide collection now.  :)

- Coworker Joanne came in yesterday with treats she made over the weekend and approached my cubicle, asking:  "Lynn - are you on a diet today?"  "Depends on what you've got!"  And off the diet I went, to eat this Oreo cookie ball.  Joanne spotted the recipe on facebook.

- And sometimes you have to look for beauty where you can find it.  Here - fallen leaves floating in a puddle at home.

Okay, now I have to start collecting rolling pins. I would do so in honor of my paternal grandmother who probably wore out rolling pins with all her baking. Perfect use for beautiful wine rack in homes where there is not wine!! Now about that cookie bite...no harm done. The worst things are doughnuts. Doughnuts are THE DEVIL.

Hi Lynn - love the idea of the rolling pin display - clever ... and those multi-functional rolling pins always amaze me - not being a baker. But an Oreo cake - yes please .. for an occasional celebration ... cheers Hilary

Elephant's Child -

We've had more than our share of it - and serious flooding in places where it generally doesn't flood (Columbia, South Carolina really got it.)

Thank you about the rolling pins!

Granny Annie -

Krispy Kreme doughnuts are especially the devil - I can resist others (although I like those little white powdered ones, too.)

I think my grandmother wore hers out since the handles came off. My mom said she kept using it anyway. Later in life she embraced those refrigerator biscuits - much to everyone's chagrin. :)

And there's always some wine at my house. :)

Hilary -

I'm no baker either which I guess makes it funnier that I have so many rolling pins now.

What a unique and wonderful way to store rolling pins! That's just terrific! :)

I love your leaves in the puddle photo...it's great! :)

Your leaves are prettier than mine this week! Hope to bake some apples soon here, myself.

Hope your sister's cabin is doing ok with all the flooding!

I love the leaves floating in the puddle.

What an unusual collection of rolling pins! I had no idea there were different kinds. Do you use them all?

I am very impressed by your selection of rolling pins. My hubby worked in a kitchen supply store for a while, so we are well stocked up with equipment, but if we have a rolling pin I don't remember where it is.

And my answer would be, "Why no! I'm not on a diet today, if you have a truffle for me!"
