Talon has awarded me the Kreativ Blogger award. How nice. I always look forward to viewing her lovely photographs first thing in the morning. Thank you Talon.
So seven interesting things about me, huh? Well - let's see if I can come up with that many. :)
1. The state of Georgia has been my home my entire life. I love it, even if it is so hot and humid in the summer.
2. I was born in Macon, Georgia, home of Otis Redding. His song, "Sittin' on the dock of the bay" is one of my favorite songs. So poignant.
3. But I consider Milledgeville, Georgia my home town, because we moved there when I was a baby. It is where Flannery O'Connor wrote most of her work. My parents still live "as the crows flies" a couple of miles from her farm property.
4. My most favorite job ever - working as a library assistant after school in the county library there. Any library feels like home to me, every time I walk in.
5. One of my interests stemmed from living in Milledgeville (the first capital of Georgia) - historic buildings and architecture in general.
6. I am a volunteer at the Georgia Radio Reading Service for the Blind (GARRS) - we offer 24-hour programming seven days a week to a listening audience that spans North Georgia, and serves over 15,000 blind and print-handicapped Georgians. I record The New York Times Book Review - it is a one-hour program that airs on Sunday night at 9pm. I sometimes record books as well.
7. I used to be a vegetarian - actually macrobiotic. I still eat an ovo-lacto vegetarian diet about 75% of the time, but do eat meat now, too. Someone told me that is called Flexitarian.
That's it.

Number 2 - classic song!
So with number 6, your voice appears on radio once a week? And is that on the Net too? Very cool that you do that!
Yes - every Sunday night. I record on Tuesday after work at the Georgia Public Broadcasting building.
You can listen if you apply for a password - listeners are supposed to be blind or print-handicapped in some way.
I love doing it ...
What an awesome way to volunteer!
Good for you getting done so fast! (I'm a procrastinator)
I have a friend named Ellen in HotLanta, who's a caterer, who has a cottage in my town. I miss Otis- Georgia is full of great history legacies to be proud of.I really don't get enough book time n miss the library too.
What a wonderful volunteer project! My great Aunt Besse was blind n lived to be 99. I learned much about perception from her.
Flexitarian, what a great noun! I eat lots of milk stuff like yogurt n ice cream too.
I'll have to come up with my own award stuff soon...
Mama Zen -
Thank you - we also have a blind board operator there. He gets around Atlanta on mass transit with only his white cane for help. I catch my breath sometimes when I spot him crossing the busy intersection nearby, but he knows just how to handle it.
Snaggle Tooth -
I didn't really do the award correctly and tag other people - I mostly read the same ones as Talon.
You are all so great - I love visiting your blogs. Looking forward to your seven things!
What a great legacy your aunt left you - "learning much about perception."
HotLanta is right! My car thermostat read 109 fahrenheit on Saturday afternoon. (We've got nothing on Texas, I'll bet - huh, Jannie?)
Lynn, that's a truly valuable service you're doing. And I imagine hugely rewarding.
I'm dodging T-storms here today so I'll keep this brief. Thunder is booming around me - lol!
You're welcome, Lynn. I love reading your blog and I'm glad Jannie introduced us.
Talon -
I am glad Jannie introduced us, too. Your photos are so beautiful - I always look forward to the next one.
Sounds as if you need to batten down the hatches! Are pets hiding? That's what my Sophie does during thunderstorms. :)
Well, I think I will sign up for a password. I can always close my eyes or squint real hard when i go on that site, and then I'm practically blind and should be able to go on there relatively guilt-free.
Talon, I just knew you two would get along super-fab. (You're kind of my twins, okay?) :)
Speaking of Talon, off now to see what she's going to dazzle us with today.
xo
Oh my - just don't laugh at me too much when I butcher French! Those book reviews always seem to contain phrases in French. Sometimes I try to look it up, or go ask someone. But usually I just wing it. :)
I like the notion of being Talon's twin! She is probably having a Canada Day party.
