Crepe Myrtles, Marion and Mama Bird

- The Crepe Myrtle trees seem particularly beautiful right now.

- Neighbor Marion walks out on his porch and says, "hey - why don't you take my picture." And then was quite flattered when I did. He is a very genteel retired man and his favorite thing to say when I call out his name: "oh - is that Lynn? I thought it was an angel!"

- The fern hanging next to my front door (recently home to a pesky spider) now has a bird's nest in it. Mama Bird and I keep startling each other. She flaps her way out of the fern and flys away to squawk at me from nearby trees.

The trees are lovely - especially the color!

I think everyone needs a neighbor like Marion!

Now I'm laughing - I bet the bird has some choice words for the human who keeps invading her nest area LOL!

Crepe Myrtles come in pink and white. I like the pink ones the best. They seem to just flourish in the southeast.

Marion is great.

And I don't know what to do about the nest - I can't even see it. This morning I carefully got up on a stepladder to water the fern straight in the middle so hopefully not to hit the nest and she flew out and I squawked. It was pretty funny. But I do want to make sure the babies are OK and Mama Bird isn't too frightened. I think these are the wrens that have been hitting the birdfeeder in the back pretty hard.

Not too worry, Lynn. She'll soon figure out that the fern isn't the most hospitable location or you can stop watering the fern (and freaking yourself out - lol) and let it die.

Lynn, you ARE angel, in my or anyone's book! And you always will be.

And yes, we've 7 crepe myrtles I planted 15 years ago. Love them!

Yeah - I don't want her to abandon her nest because she is clearly camping out on it. I suppose I should just let the fern die. :(

Jannie -

Thank you - you sweet thing! I got my books yesterday - loved your card. :)

Whoo-hoo. I told you the bank (for once in my lifetime,) gave me an extra $37.00 instead of pinging me for it, so I went out and splurged on those notes. Am I bad to not have told them about the $37.00? Of couse I am!

xo

Maybe it was $35.00.

Either way it was found money, I say. You are absolved!
