Lilies of the valley, flower duet and song of Norway

- Spotting a flower arrangement of lilies of the valley across a room and upon further investigation discovering that it is made from styrofoam egg carton cups. Finally - a good use for styrofoam!

- Getting back in the car after an errand and finding the most beautiful part of the Flower Duet from the opera Lakmé is on the classical music station. And pausing before driving away to close my eyes and listen.

- Later in the day hearing Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor brings back a memory of my mother's copy of the soundtrack to the film The Song of Norway. She loved the music and hearing a piece from it this afternoon brought back a flood of memories.

Those lilies are awesome! Now THAT is creative!

I love how a piece of music can take us back in time and bring so many emotions to the surface...

Talon -

I know - I couldn't believe it.

Lots of drama this week in my world, so listening to classical music in the car just makes it all so much better.

For some reason, we went to see The Song of Norway movie as a family. That would have been around 1970. My father promptly fell asleep, but the gals all loved it.

I am listening to the concerto now and will as I read some more blogs. Wonderful suggestion! I guess that girl must be the page turner?

We had a librarian named Paige Turner! :)

Sorry 'bout the drama, hope you are okay?

Jannie -

I was hoping everyone would listen to it. Yes - she must be the page turner.

Paige Turner as a librarian - how much better could that be as a name? I went to college (first time around) with a girl named Crystal Fountain.

Yes - I am OK - just a little heartburn. This, too, shall pass. :)

Those Lillies of the vallety are huge compared to my purple ones- yes, good to use styrofoam- I still won't get eggs in those!

Not familiar with those two shows yet- n so little time for music this week (rats)!

Neil Diamond always brings back my Mom memories, along with her brother the monk's songs- Music is so powerful!

Snaggle -

I like to get eggs in those cardboardy containers and then recycle them to my friend Jeanne, who has egg-laying creatures in her back yard.

Monk's songs. I would like to hear that. Yes - just a song on the radio will sometimes summon up a memory - happy or sad.

You snuck in there! Yes - another use for pipe cleaners as well as styrofoam. :)

Jannie -

Good thing she had a sense of humor!
