Salsa, pledge and going with

- These puppets gracing the Georgia Public Broadcasting lobby. The security guards said they had been on the third floor, but they were moved to the lobby to give them more exposure. They are from the Salsa program, a comprehensive Spanish program for young children that is beneficial for both Spanish and English speaking children. The guards watched with great amusement while I snapped photos and wondered why I did not want them to take my photo in front.

- Signing the pledge for Meatless Monday - a non-profit initiative run in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. They say it is "not about rationing. It's about living rationally; i.e., eating more healthfully." Further, "Skipping meat even just once a week can help you avoid a wide range of illnesses, including cancer, heart disease, and diabetes." I like the idea of this...

- An email invitation from my sister for the weekend, "want to go with?" Yes, I will be going with. Yay!

The puppets look like they're ready to break free and head out on an adventure!

Meatless Monday is a great idea. I've never been a big meat-eater myself.

Sounds like you and your sister are going to have some fun this weekend!

Don't they though? I love the fact that the Spanish program enables Spanish speaking children in schools to participate more.

Me either and I do that anyway most of the time, but like the message of the movement.

We need some downtime as well as fun. There will be some pictures for next week!

Hi Lynn,
Cool puppets! They look so relaxed in there...

While I like meat, I have cut back - and it's been good. So, this Meatless Monday idea sounds alright.

Have fun this weekend (and downtime)...

Hey Lance -

Yes - I love the whimsical nature of those puppets.

Anything through Johns Hopkins sounds serious! So I pledged - wonder if the food police follows up? :)

Can't wait!

Didn't you strike up a rousing converaton with the guards about blogging and ask them if they blog too? :) (Oh wait, I'm the 74% blogging addicted one -- you're just 62%)

I'll pledge a Wineless (and whineless) Wednesday!

Jannie -

The guards at GPB - there is a happy guard and a dour guard. The happy guard asked if he should take my picture. They are a good mix and interesting. The happy guard has an island accent and told me all about all the alcohol he drank on July 4. The dour guard is from San Diego and told me the other day he is going back to visit soon - can't wait. I asked him why he left? Circumstances. So there was security guard blogging material on my end anyway. :)

From henceforth Wednesday will be known as Wineless (and Whineless) Wednesday! I like that!

Hello Arca -

Thanks for stopping by. Big chuckle. Creepy? Hmmm.

I thought they were just kind of colorful and cute. :)

Well, if there is to be wineless Wednesday, I guess I'll have to step up my beer and Kahlua inhalations on hump day.

Kidding of course. By the way I talk in general one (or a thousand,) would think I'm a raging alcoholic. lol.

I so don't think that! Except we do have to have our 2 big beers and donut lunch someday. :)
