Award, seven things and thank you

I have been tagged by Riot Kitty for this award. Thanks RK! Here are the rules:

1. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
2. Link to the person who nominated you for this award.
3. Name seven things about you that people think are interesting.
4. Nominate seven other Kreativ Bloggers.

I've had this one before, so I put seven more things below. No - not tagging anyone else - I think I tagged most of my readers the last time. :)

- I am a homebody. As much as I love people and interesting places, I do love being at home. A favorite quote from William Faulkner (another homebody), who was invited by President Kennedy to dine at the White House, "Why...that's a long way to go just to eat."

- I have attended exactly one Olympic event in my life - when the summer Olympics were held in Atlanta in 1996. Mens' Springboard Diving. I was sitting so far away that I watched it on the big screen. Might as well have been at home and saved the big $$$. :)

- My most favorite local event ever was the Democratic National Convention held in Atlanta in 1988. I was chosen to work the convention; mostly standing at the portals into the hall and playing traffic cop. Favorite moment - another volunteer asked Al Franken to sign her autograph book. He was at the convention at that time to make spots for Saturday Night Live and he grinned as he signed her book. She gasped when she saw what he wrote: "Sylvia - let's have sex again real soon!"

- As a wee girl, I learned to read without even realizing it. My parents and older sister read to me so much that when I started 1st grade, I could read the first few reading books they had. So they put me in a group by myself. Reading is still my favorite thing.

- I didn't get the math gene. Not at all.

- My first job was after school at the public library in Milledgeville, Georgia. I loved it there so much that I decided at one point that I would like to be a librarian. Somehow that dream went by the wayside (money called) and out of the nine different jobs I have had over the years, the job at the library remains my favorite.

- I really love blogging - it gives me something creative to do before I start my day outside the house. It means a lot to me that you come by. So thank you and I hope you are having a great week.

Congrats on the award, Lynn! I loved Faulkner's quote - he had a good point :)

That's funny about the Olympic event - I've thought how fun it would be to attend, but I think I'm a little too used to the slow-motion playbacks and would miss them too much!

lol @ the Al Franken autograph!

Lynn: That autograph anecdote is funny. I've been to a winter Olympic event - curling - when it was here in SLC. That was fun! Cool first job. If I were to have another job I would consider working at the library.

Laughing about the Al Franken story!!! Thanks again for the walk donation, that was very sweet!

Talon -

Faulkner lived in a beautiful place, Rowan Oak in Mississippi. I wouldn't want to leave either.

It was fun to be at the Olympics, but it was so crowded and the ticket cost $80 in 1996 (what would it be today?) - so I thought we would have great seats. We were on the last row way up high. At least I can say I went.

Jewel -

I was around so many famous people that week, that I almost got kind of jaded. But the autograph thing by far was the most memorable.

The library was a peaceful place to work and there were a bunch of nice people there. I loved the patrons who came in.

Riot Kitty -

You are welcome - it is a great cause. And the recipient was a bit put out by that, but I was laughing my head off.

That was fun to read. Congrats on the award. I also read young and didn't get the math gene!

Al Franken's a trip. I would have gasped just like Sylvia, though. ;)

I also attended one event when the Olympics were in Atlanta, women's volleyball, and only because I got free tickets. (The company I worked for was doing setup of large fabric signage and I'd helped with some last-minute work for that venue.) I'm sure the diving was more exciting, though!

I'm so glad you love blogging, because I hope you do it for a long, long time to come. You deserved the award. Congratulations!

Kenju -

I am beginning to think those two things go hand in hand. :)

Meredith -

Al Franken is a trip indeed. My other favorite public figure from the convention - Walter Cronkite. What a thrill.

Thank you - blogging has opened up a whole new world for me and I've made so many friends from it.

I love that Faulkner quote, and I couldn't agree with him more!

Congratulations on the award!

Ahhhh, I just loved hearing new tidbits about you.

Kewl beans. :)

no math gene here either, tho Jm not letting that on ine little iota to Kelly, in case it sets her expectations too low. She is doing pretty good in math, tho. Right now she us working on her multiplication tables, we've started doing one equation of the day. It seems to motivate her a lot.

Now, dear sweet Lynnie Muffin, I'm dying to hear you spell out all your other 8 jobs, should you ever feel the yen to share! Okay?

Congrats on the award, you are very very creative here Indeed.

Mama Zen -

In that one way I compare myself to William Faulkner. :) Hey - you got the same one and I LOVED the spin you put on the seven things.

Jannie Muffin!

I will email that to you under separate cover, as they say. :) No worries on those typos. And I think that is a good thing to not let Kelly have any preconceived notions about being good in math or not. Somehow only one of my nieces got the math gene AND the music gene.

Congrats on another award, m thanks for the interesting things.
I like home best myself- funny qoute! Terrible about live monitor watching of oympics!
Al Frankin could really get in political trouble over that one now!
Reading thru osmosis- cool. My daughter reads like the wind, up to a 300 pager in a couple hours sometimes! very good habit-
Only math required is counting cash change, anyhow-
Maybe Library volunteer is in your retirement plan?
Thanks for blogging! Sorry I get here so late (after work)- always feel like I'm late!
