Reflection, 20 years and 201st birthday

- A most excellent dinner at the tapas restaurant The Iberian Pig, with the highlight for me being a dish of crispy eggplant fries with a spicy red pepper aioli. Yum. We were seated by the window overlooking Decatur square and my attempt at photographing the square through the window ended up capturing friend Steven's reflection.

- We have been friends for 20 years - a long time in the scheme of things. We taught each other to appreciate the others taste in music. But I still don't love The Smiths. :)

- Today is Felix Mendelssohn's 201st birthday. I am taking along his "Symphonies Nos. 1 and 5 'Reformation'" with me for the drive to work this morning in his honor.

Well I share my birthday with Felix. :)

My partner loves the Smiths, and I can't stand them.

Cool photo, Lynn.

*eggplant fries* Wow, I'd love to try those. They sound yummy (I love eggplant and fries).

And I am impressed you know composer birthdays. :-)

I love those types of shots.

A 20 year friendship is awesome! I've never heard of The Smiths and listened to the sample on that page and I have to admit I liked the singer's voice, but not the music.

The eggplant fries sound good! Especially with the red pepper sauce.

You must have had a nice drive in, Lynn, accompanied by such glorious music.

Happy Birthday, Joe!

Joe -

Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I think the Smiths are depressing!

The fries were so yummy and crisp. Yum. I remembered Felix's birthday from last year - it is what inspired me to buy that CD. There is a very lyrical version of "A Mighty Fortress is our God" toward the end - I loved hearing that in a classical setting.

My drive is was lovely with such soaring music. The funniest thing happened though - I had misplaced my 100% Disco CD and it was on top of the one I wanted. So instead of hearing soaring classical music, a Kool and the Gang song came on. :)

Aw, the Smiths are an old fave of mine. But I understand that not everybody loves what I love. ;)

So fun that you caught your friend in the reflection!

Then Steven would definitely love you - he loves The Smiths. The first conversation I ever had with him was about them.

I hope you are feeling better!

I don't know, but I wouldn't ask him. One of my friends saw him at the airport and approached him - telling him how she admires his acting and he rolled his eyes and didn't respond to her. She was embarrassed. But I think his behavior was shameful.
