At the end, small town and determined

- This globe in a fountain - a surprise at the end of a very long driveway with new clients at the end.

- This email from my niece who lives in a town with a population of about 2000 people: "I made a check out to Evelyn B_____ and mailed it to her from work. I just wrote her name on the front of the envelope and was going to look up her address later and put it on there. I ended up grabbing it with the other mail and it got mailed without the address, just her name, and she GOT IT! Is that small town or what?"

- A gentleman in a vintage suit, wearing a fedora at a rakish angle, walking out of Fresh Market with a bouquet of roses and a determined look.

That's pretty cool about the letter getting to the friend with just a name on it.

I've heard stories about similiar situations out in PA and OH within the Amish community and the post office. Sometimes letters would be addressed with nothing more than a name and town and often would get to the intended receipient.

It was likely a payment to someone - she runs the office of a large quail hunting plantation in her county. All sorts of people around there supply services to the house when the wealthy owners visit. :)

One of my friends mailed me a sympathy card that I never got - she said she put my address, but not the zip code (because she didn't know it) and took it to the post office in my neighborhood thinking they would deliver it. It probably ended up in a dead letter pile. That is living in a large suburban area for you.

That is the one of the cool things about small towns!

That fountain looks refreshing! I hope they offered you the world in a contract :)

Oh, I can see that man. My father always wore hats. He wouldn't be in a suit without a sharp hat to go with it. I wish men still wore hats. Sounds like someone's going to have a romantic weekend!

Loved the story about the small-town mail. When I lived in France, in a village of about 60 people, my address was two lines: Name, Town. Oh, and if it came from overseas, a third line: France. The envelopes always looked like they had too much extra white space.

Now I'm envisioning stories for the determined young man with the bouquet. :)

Jannie -

It is about $900 - not a fortune, but it is a start. :)

The man caught my eye immediately - he was wearing a woolen suit on a warm day. But quite dapper looking. Some lucky person was getting those flowers and soon. :)

That is so interesting about French addresses. When I worked in immigration law, I ran across that. I would have clients say that there wasn't a street address in their country per se, where their home was - more like a location (near something, etc.)

He was an elderly man actually - I came up with stories in my head, too. :)

What a great story about the letter. Can't see that happening in the over populated UK!

I really love the globe.

Wow - you were just here. That is at the Georgia Baptist Missions and Ministries Center. I had to go back up there today - you should see the inside. Lots of sculptures and painted murals.

Thank you - I sat and watched him leave - he was walking toward Benihana.

Mama Zen -

Me, too - slightly too big with a lot of style.

This kinda made me miss living in a small town! I come from one just like that - where the cashier at the grocery store knows your family history and you have a personal relationship with your bank. I might move back to a small town some day...
I hope the new clients worked out :)

Wow! The world in a fountain- how cool-
Can't believe the letter made it!
Wonder if the guy had an anniversary or proposal going on-? A special guy for some one!
