The first day, Aqua Net man and Cool Hand Luke

Neighbor Rhonda's dog Lucy, Monday morning

- And before it was over, six inches of snow fell in Atlanta. Then there was sleet on top of the snow, leaving more than an inch of ice on top in some areas. So looks as if I have the day off again today! There are news reports of miles of tractor-trailer trucks stuck on our perimeter highway, so I do not complain about being in my place where it is warm and there is lots to do.

- Watching news reports all morning and laughing at a veteran weather reporter who was reporting from outdoors, withstanding the barrage of admonishment by the female anchors inside that he is not wearing a hat in the 20 degree weather. Best line of the day, "My hair is like a hat now after so many years of having Aqua Net sprayed on it."

- Delving into the 4-star films that have been accumulating in the "My DVR" folder, last evening, Cool Hand Luke. I did not know that is where that line "What we have here is...failure to communicate" came from. Paul Newman's character of Luke demonstrates an unquenchable spirit and you can just feel the miserable summer heat. Today I can choose from, The Last Emperor, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Roman Holiday and A Streetcar Named Desire. I'm think the Audrey Hepburn movie. :)

Both "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof" and "The Last Emperor" are favorites of mine. I have no doubt you'll enjoy them if you watch them!

Oops, It's not "The Last Emperor" I like, I think the one I like is called "Empire of the Sun."

Ahhh, there is just something about an Aqua Net man.. Wait -- Aqua Velva, actually. :0 Remember that commercial? Or was it just a Canadian one?

Yay, watching great movies, having fun at home, cozy, whooo-hooo!! A glass of wine at 3:00 or 4:00? :)

xoxo

Ooooh Lynn. My vote is for Roman Holiday. I just recorded it. It is one of my most favorite films! I am snowed/iced/slushed in as well. Popcorn...and a movie?

Have a GREAT day Lynn.
And stay warm-stay safe.

Lucy is clearly not thrilled with a new type of footing to deal with! :)

I didn't even know they made Aqua Net anymore...though I remember my mother used to use it.

lol @ Jannie - now I've got that jingle stuck in my head!

Snow begotten snow
On the highway, it’s piled high
Truckers are stuck
But I’m warm till it goes by

A hat they did not wear
Out in the blowing snow
His hair was protected
Aqua Net to go

One hot cat,
an Emperor who’s lost,
Luke’s frozen hand,
A Holiday that’s too far
What sounds best to me
Is Desire on a Streetcar

I'm glad that we didn't get that much snow! Stay in and stay safe, Lynn!

I loved the film Cool Hand Luke and Cat On A Hot Tin Roof. Real classics.

Hope you enjoy your time off and that you have enough food!

Doggie coats and boots are the cutest. Seeing dogs bundled up is one of my favourite parts of winter.

I'm envious! All we have is cold, dreary skies. The snow hasn't gotten down to us.

On the other hand, it does sound like you're having fun. Watching old movies is always a delight and not having to go into work is even better.

It's like playing hooky from school with no parents to hassle you. So, enjoy your "snow days!"

FB -

I might watch Cat tonight - I'm watching Roman Holiday now, but interrupted to go dig my car out.

Jannie -

I do remember Aqua Velva. :) And I could have a glass of wine - I certainly could. Hmmm.

I have it on pause right now, but like it very much. Her first film. How about that?

Talon -

He's one of those perfect hair guys, so he probably does use that. I think I have seen it at the grocery store. :)

Ellis -

I like your vote done in rhyme. :) Thank you for my poem!

MZ -

Me, too - it's been kind of fun though.

Joe -

Oh yeah - I stocked up. :)

Sparkling Red -

Today she is wearing an argyle sweater. :)

Sara -

I'm enjoying it immensely - I just had a sitting up nap on the couch.

Good movies--but Cool Hand Luke is a favorite. Enjoy the snow

I still haven't seen that movie.

So it is sleeting here...is that from you? :)

Poor Lucy seems to be saying "You mean I have to walk in this stuff?"

Our news guys know better than getting an ear-ache out there- Winter hats must be tough to buy there I'd imagine! I'm so allergic to hair spray!
Thanks for tracking down that Failure to Communicate qoute! I'd watch all those films! Even if I already have-

Sage -

I liked it very much. Paul Newman was a great actor.

Riot Kitty -

I think it did go north for sure.

Snaggle -

She was rubbing her face in it. Cute.

It's sort of fun to crunch through that snow - an icy crust and soft snow underneath. I forget that you're in Atlanta though. Wow.

My most often used film quote is "What we have here is a failure to communicate" from Cool Hand Luke. That says it all at all levels. Good film selection you saved in your DVR.

Wendy -

It's still on the ground, too. Sigh.

Granny Annie -

I did realize that is where that came from - so glad I saw it now.
