Monday Monday, outdoor time and big batch

- I woke this morning thinking of this song and so, here it is. According to the "Billboard Book of Number 1 Hits" - it was the 198th number one song on the Billboard charts and "For years, John (Phillips) maintained he had no idea what the song meant." I think it is just the best Monday song I know.

- My shedding fern's delight that it got to go outside for two days of 65 degree weather this weekend.

- Waking up to the lingering scent of vegetable soup simmering. It was time for more "Big Batch Vegetable Soup" yesterday and kind of fun to have a freezer clearing batch of soup. It turned out to be more vegetables than broth and sure was tasty.

I love that song, too. I like a lot of their songs. Get a load of John's nehru!

The Mamas and Papas were part of my life. I love all of their songs and can't believe any were further down the charts than #1.

Friday and Saturday were warm and lovely here and now we've got freezing temps with snow and ice in the forecast again.

I love thick soup but Ron wants lots of broth. You can see we work well together:)

Funny he says he has no idea what the son'gs about. To me the lyrics seem very clear.
Whoops, I see I'm in BBs account, but it's me-- Jannie!

70s here, tWas quite the tee shirt weekend.

Some folks like pork chops
some folks like ham hocks
some folks like vegetable soup...

If you know what song that's from and by whom without Googling I'll be duly impressed! :)

The sun was hot
tho Monday's not
Yet M&P hit the spot

Before the soup was done
the fern tried to run
And M&P was Number One

The temp was grand
the freezer spick and spin
M&P was once a band

I liked Mama Cass's little dancey moves. :)

Granny Annie -

It was the 198th Number 1 song on the Billboard charts. I loved all their songs and keep a greatest hits CD in the car.

I'm glad that the weekend was so universal in its loveliness.

And the last batch of vegetables that I threw in might have been too much, but it sure cleaned out the freezer!

Blue Bunny (really Jannie) -

Nope - I don't know a song with those lyrics. What is it?

That poem hits the spot! :) Thank you for it.

I don't like the I don't like Mondays song. :) I do like Just Another Manic Monday!

Hope it is warmer for you today!

65??? Okay, I'm officially jealous now :)

That song always makes me happy. I'll be humming it all day long now...

Love that song, Lynn! But how could you not know what it was about? (Too many mind-altering drugs, maybe?)

I was as delighted as your fern at the springlike burst this weekend. Hard to return to winter this morning...

"Freezer-clearing" soup is awesome. My mom calls it "kitchen sink" soup, for obvious reasons, and I find it wonderfully mysterious, how it always turns out different -- but delicious. :)

Monday, Monday
Ba da, ba da da da
So good to me
Ba da, ba da da da
Monday morning
Ba da, ba da da da da
It was all I hoped it would be
Oh, Monday morning, Monday morning
Couldn't guarantee
Ba da, ba da da da da, da
That Monday evening you would still be here with me
O.K.~~ now Lynn; yes...you've got me going!

I'm glad. I was not feeling happy this morning - it being Monday and it was raining. So I was trying to pep myself up and this song came to mind. I'm glad you liked it.

Meredith -

Yes - the fern got to shed outside for a change! It was lovely weekend here in ATL.

And that soup does come out a little different every time. It was fun to freeze it all up in batches and now the freezer space is replaced. :)

Good for you - you know the lyrics. I'm glad I got you singing this morning!

Sage -

I love having something like that soup on the stove to stir now and then. Just as fun as eating it, I think.

Lulu -

My day is happy and bright and I hope your is, too. :)

I'll have to see the music later, but remember the song well, used to play guitar n sing alot of their tunes with my friends. California Dreaming was my fave tho. Lucky fern- I'm dreaming of those temps now! (In the teens here) Great idea for freezer cleaning! I'm hungry too...

This one turned out vegan, too - I used vegetable broth. So good.

California Dreamin' is a great song - another favorite of mine, too.

Wish I could send you some warm weather or soup!
