Life inside, snowpocalypse and Roman Holiday

- Life inside. Somehow adapting with three computers going and the television. The laptop in the front is my up-to-date computer, the one behind it is an ancient one that has a Mahjong game going and there is a desktop computer back in my home office that has some age on it. And I am glued to the news. I am talking to clients from home, too. And still feeling fortunate to be able to stay home.

- Someone coined the term Snowpocalypse and looking it up on Google, only to find that it is already in the online urban dictionary. So it is not all about us. :)

- Watching the delightful Roman Holiday, Audrey Hepburn's first film. The lead-in from Turner Classic Movies said she almost didn't get the part because her screen test was so subdued. But when it was over, they left the cameras running without her knowledge and asked her about her life. Her animation while chatting with the director won her the role.

Yeah, I first heard snowpocalypse and snowmageddon when D.C. got hit so hard last year.

Well, it looks I'm joining you today. Was told a few hours ago that all non-essential first shift employees (like myself) need to stay home to sit on our butts until the snow stops sometime this evening.

Your three computer set up reminds me an old computer from days at the library.

It contained a very old database that was created on FoxPro and since the library discontinued using it a few years later in order to use Access, that particular computer never got upgraded when all the others did.

When I left in '03, it was still running on Windows '97.

Lynn~ Are you still home today (Wed.) ??! The news last night said Atlanta may still not be out of the woods until things start melting today. We have had another BLAST of arctic chill, snow and wind last night and today. Snowed in AGAIN.

It's amazing how connected we are, even at times when it seems we're far removed from our day-to-day...

Funny expressions and I hope this is a one-in-20-year event here.

I saw pictures on the news of Harford! I guess is the one good time that term "non-essential" employee sounds good. :)

Yes - still here at home. I did go out yesterday and dig my car out, so it is ready to roll whenever. There is a skeleton crew at my office and they told me to continue to work from home. Yay.

It is only in the 20s right now and is supposed to go into the teens tonight. It sounds as if y'all have this kind of thing all the time - this winter anyway.

That is a great wrap-up poem. :) Thank you for it.

I know - and I should have added cellphone and landline to that, too. I am feeling so fortunate not to have lost power.

Is the book on the top, the one with the robin eggs, "Wild Comfort"? I reviewed it sometime last year. Enjoy your "God-given" Sabbath!

What's a "weather event" without a catchy name?

I saw those words getting used on the news alot today with this storm.
I take it you had extras with the movie to learn the info-

I am getting a case of cabin fever - I did get all the snow off my car though. It was just thought that I should work from home and I am kind of enjoying that.

Sage -

I think I really needed this time off - the holidays are never that relaxing for me since I have to do all that traveling.

And yes - it certainly is. I got the book because of your review. It is a lovely read.

MZ -

I agree. :)

Yes - two of them are old. One of them is really old and just good for playing hearts or mahjong. :) The older desktop that I am on this minute drives me crazy - it is so slow. I have put off taking it in to have memory added, but plan to do that.

Turner Classic Movies is so good to broadcast films in their entirety with commentary before and after. I am really getting the dvr catch up.

I'm late! I'm late.

3 computers, awesome! Your laptop looks pretty spiffy.

I see your towels in the laundry basket...

You talking with clients again today?

xoxo

I'm late, I'm late for a very important date
No time to say "Hello", "Goodbye"
I'm late, I'm late, I'm late, I'm late :)

I say you are always right on time, my special friend. :) xoxoxo

That is actually my magazine basket with a blankie stacked on top.

I talked to one client today. Yes indeed, this storm is not working well for the printing world.

But my neighbor bought a new car today - wonder if she got a good deal because of the land of the ice and snow?
