Norman and Astro, fake meat and endearments

- It is almost time to turn the calendar to August and I will miss these two calendar dogs from July - Norman and Astro. Great names, I think. Their whimsical poses on my veterinarian's calendar make me chuckle every time I see them in my cubicle at work.

- Stopping at the vegetarian hot food bar at The Rainbow Grocery for dinner and finding they have fake meat meatloaf - a funny thought, but surprisingly it turns out like the real thing. And there was mushroom gravy to go over it. Yum.

- Unexpected family business coming up that allows me to speak with two sisters, two cousins and my mother in a span of an hour. Bonus - hearing so many "I love you's."

Flip a page a month is gone
Norman and Astro went along
The veggie bar had fake meatloaf goo
The gravy had fungus in it too
Sisters, cousins and mother in an hour
Made Lynn’s heart seem empowered
With the words------ I Love You

What a sweet calendar!

I don't know about fake meatloaf, though . . .

Isn't it interesting how we can miss calendar pages, especially if the next month doesn't have a good picture to view?

I make a delicious real meat-meatloaf and don't even want to think about fake meat. Just not right I tell you.

Mushroom sauce?! Oh, good grief! This is me drowning in my own drool... :P

Aw, that last line is too sweet, Lynn. I'm glad you were surrounded by so much expressed love, my friend. :)

Sometimes I hate turning the calendar over. Mine for July was also a favorite, with a hummingbird sipping nectar from some red salvia blossoms. Can't believe it's almost August!

August already! I think I've been pretending it's still May :)

vegetarian meatloaf - isn't that an oxymoron? But all that really matters is if it tastes good and gravy makes everything taste good!

The world needs more "I love you's" That is a lovely bonus.

My Elvis Presley calendar has the most awful shot ever for July so roll on August is what I say! I've already sneaked at look at it and it's much better!

I like veggie burgers if they do not taste like hamburgers... but then I am a meat-eater who just happens the taste of non-meat produce.

Sweet on all those I love yous.

Ummn, gravy! Funny, but I just remembered all those Annie's tofu frozen meatloaf with gravy dinners with corn and peas I used to eat when I was expecting Kelly. Tasty! I ate a lot of chinese buffet too. And cesar salads, OMG -- the cesar salad from Chez Zee. uum, umn!! :)

So many I love yous...that is sweet!

Love the calendar.

In terms of fake meats, being a vegetarian I think I've tried just about everything. There are some really great ones out there and some not-so-great. Glad you found a neat place!

Ellis -

lol at the gravy with fungus. Now I'm thinking that doesn't sound so good. :) Thank you for my poem. :)

MZ -

It was pretty good - some sort of soy something, I guess.

Granny Annie -

I hear ya on the meatloaf. :)

Tony -

It was pretty yummy. I hope you didn't drown!

Jingle -

Thank you!

Meredith -

My uncle passed away - it was such a shock and we all took that opportunity to remember how wonderful it is that we have each other.

Your calendar sounds wonderful.

I don't think you can hear I love you too much.

Aren't they cute? :)

An Elvis calendar would be so cool. My vet is a huge Elvis fan and went to Graceland to hang out in front the day he died.

Monique -

I am a meat eater, too, but I make that a small percentage of my diet if I can.

Jannie -

Sounds like good cravings. :)

xo

Riot Kitty -

I forget who makes them, but I love the frozen black bean burgers. So good.

Shay -

I like Astro's name the best - but Norman is a good name, too. They do rock. :)

I like animal posters. My Aunt who died a year ago May used to send me one every year- I miss them-
That one looks fun! Bet it helps your workday along-
You'll have to see if Mr C's has Veggie-meatloaf! If not, tell him about it...
I only got 2 today- Sometimes I have to wait weeks when everyone's so busy. Lucky you!

You're quite welcome
Still I thought you might be getting sick of them by now.
I have fun doing them.
I love to play with words.

Two in a day is great - mine was just a banner day. We can never say that enough.

Ellis -

I always look forward to your poem and it makes me smile. So keep on, please and thank you.
