Cabin fever, synchronicity and the sisterhood

Enough with the snow. Seriously!

- So I have gotten a bit of a case of cabin fever now, but have been grateful for the opportunity to stay home while other peoples' cars are crashing into each other in the aftermath of the land of the ice and snow. Also - my ex-father-in-law passed away yesterday. He had Alzheimer's disease. He was a lovely man, a veteran of a foreign war who came back home and ran the family dairy farm after the war was over. I liked to help him count cows at the end of the day, something I only got to do now and then. A sweet, sweet man.

- Maybe my dinner of Steak au Poive was appropriate. :) I don't eat meat often, but I sauteed a little steak and made a remoulade sauce to go with it, along with some caramelized onions. Yum.

- Stellaaahhh!!!!! A Streetcar Named Desire. So much yelling that I'll be watching the remaining 1 hour and 16 minutes another time. What else was there on the DVR to watch? Hmmmm. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Yep. That was just the ticket. A nice little film - not gritty, but just what I needed for this night.

“Whoever you are,” Blanche DuBois said, “I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.” Best line ever! I hope you experience kindness from everyone around you this weekend, my friends.

Ah have alwuss depended on the blog posts of stranguhs (to get my day started!)

Don't you hate it when people from up north do bad southern accents? ;-)

Sorry for the lost
The steak sounds good
to much yelling but
not from the sisterhood

Sorry to hear about your ex father-in-law, having lost my father-in-law to the same illness I know how this feels.

Hope that you manage to get out during the weekend a bit!

I'm so sorry for the loss of your ex father-in-law...may he rest in peace...

Thank heavens the cure for cabin fever is a relatively simple one once Mother Nature allows you to get out and get back to a normal schedule again!

I love that photo, Lynn...

I'm sorry about your loss, Lynn. Alzheimer's is terrible.

My sincerest sympathies for your loss.

As for this person from up north, I can do a decent light southern accent. :D

Can do a fantastic Yankee accent though. :D

And I will admit that I did watch "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants". Interesting movie but I thougt sequel wasn't very good.

Hee hee - I'm glad to help get your day started, dahlin'!

It's an accent that is kind of hard to fake, or so it seems to me. :)

Ellis -

The sisterhood of the pants had no yelling. I liked that. :) Thank you for my poem!

Joe -

I ended up going into work today, then volunteer work and then I slid on home. It is still icy out.

Talon -

That's my sad angel - I got it at a flea market and just love it. I loved how the snow collected on it.

MZ -

It is terrible and thank you. He was a lovely man.

G -

I imagine you can do a good Northern accent. :) And I have the sequel to the pants movies recorded also. Not good? Rats.

I'm sorry to hear about your ex-father in law.

Steak and movies sounds wonderful to be shut in with. I really need to see Streetcar. Way to many Stella jokes and all totally over my head.

The great part of being sick of the snow is later truelly appreciating the warm weather again!
Sorry to hear of your sweet FIL 's passing. So that was the cow farmer- sounds like good memories to comfort you.
Steak sauce sounds interesting- never had that one, either, But I always make onions with beef. Not good at chewing lately- hope it was tender!
Wow, so many movies in one week!
Good for you getting out for a slide, I mean ride-
Have a good week-end- hope the snow melts for you!

I totally sympathize, having been snowed in several times...hope it melts soon.

I hope Atlanta has clear skies, soon. Sorry about your ex-father-in-law.

Poor little angel all snowed-out. Wil she rise and dance when the sun comes back?

Cabin fever, ah yes, there's the rub to some some nice home time.

We're having steak tomorrow!!!

And Grand-Ma's Chicken Bake in about 5 minutes, whooo-hooo. (Stouffer's) Shhhh, our little cooking secret. :)

I count my livestock every evening -- chickens, goats, guinea fowl and cats. It is a wonderful feeling to know all are in and safe. Sorry for the loss of your ex-father-in-law and glad you have happy memories of time spent with him.

Your picture sparked my muse

Tears of the angle
Will not melt the snow
Or warm the hearts of man
For it has turned cold
No crying is heard around the world
For all our wickedness and sin
So there he sets upon the stone
With snow covered wings
He knows where I’m going
Because of where I’ve been

I'm leaving for a few days in Barcelona for work on Tuesday, and I can't wait! I hope their weather is slightly better than ours. I am very sorry to hear about your ex-father-in-law, but so happy to see that you had such good things to say about him. He left something great behind. And I can't live without meat! That meal sounded absolutely yummy :)

Wendy -

Well now I can say I've seen Streetcar, but I felt as if I needed a shower or something after. :)

Snaggle -

That snow got so packed in with the ice on top that much of it will be with us for a while. It has been pretty though.

Riot Kitty -

That's right - I remember you talking about that.

Sage -

He is in a better place now. Thank you.

Jannie -

You are so funny, you funster, you. :) And I like the thought of my sad angel rising up and twirling around.

Granny Annie -

He was a quiet, thoughtful man. It was always lovely to walk through the pastures and woods with him, ticking off the cows and also hearing the names he gave them.

Ellis -

I am printing this out and I think I will frame it with the photo of my snow cover angel. I love this. Thank you.

Lynn -

So lucky! To go to Barcelona. I hope you have a lovely time.
