Figo, thank you note and I wish you enough

- My favorite little Italian restaurant near the office - Figo Pasta. I love how they have embedded broken crockery as a mosaic for their front counter, but my favorite thing is how the staff calls out greetings when you come in the door.

- Receiving a written thank you note from my niece for her Christmas present. She had thanked me in person, so it wasn't really necessary. But I love seeing her handwriting thanking me for her gift card, that she used it the next day and that her dog Lucky liked his special "cookies."

- A former neighbor of my parents, probably the kindest woman who ever lived, emails "forwards" and I do not have the heart to tell her I usually do not read forwards. But the subject line made me read one today, "I wish you enough." It is long, about a woman telling about the tradition in her family of saying "I wish you enough" to each other. The essential message is given at the end: 'When we said , 'I wish you enough', we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.'

I wish you enough, my friends. And I hope you have a lovely weekend.

It's kind of funny (or sad) now that to receive a thoughtful well written thank you note from someone, especially if that someone is young person, is something to be prized and/or cherished.

Sounds like your niece is heads above everyone else in her age bracket.

What a great idea for broken pottery.

Thank you notes are becoming extinct and I treasure ones received. Yes, I send also.

My daughter rebelled from the "I wish you enough" phrase when she was about thirteen and damanded "But I want MORE. Why can't you wish me MORE?"

*leans back, spreads arms*

I want it ALL, darling. Have the staff bring it to me. NOW.

(and people say I'm high maintenance. go figure!)

I love receiving hand written notes-i should also send more but my handwritting is pretty sloppy--excuses!

What a neat counter! Did they manage to get rid of all the sharp edges?

Wishing you enough, too, Lynn. :)

I love places full of character. That restaurant sounds neat.

Sweet niece! It runs in the family, obviously!

Cool mosaic, but as a mom I immediately cringe that little fingers might somehow get cut, tying in with Mama Z's, question.

We all have enough, I have learned. Sometimes we perceive lack, but that is always an illusion. God provides always!!

G -

So true. And she is - a lovely young lady in her early 20s now.

Granny Annie -

One of my friends made a tray with broken pieces of Delft pottery embedded in it from a dish her son gave her that he brought back from Holland that she dropped and the replacement that she dropped, as well.

FB -

How funny - and so you are. :)

Sage -

Still nice - even if sloppy. I'm just sayin'.

MZ -

I'll have to check next time I go - since I'm childless, I don't automatically think to notice such things as that.

Talon --

Thanks, friend. It is a neat place - I love to go there.

Jannie -

Thank you for saying that- you are so sweet. xoxoxo

Figo Pasta is where I like to munch
It takes it broken crockery
To show off a bunch

A note from my niece today
To thank me for a gift
And Lucky did not run away

Few forward emails will I read
If you send them to me
And enough is enough you see

That mosaic is gorgeous! I also dislike most of the forwards I get, but that one sounds nice.

I wish you more than enough! Or at least a great weekend ;)

I generally don't read forwards either unless the subject line grabs me or I have a lot of time on my hands (never!).

The message is sweet. I once wrote a poem for a guy entitled, "More than Enough." He was speechless. :)

Love the restaurant's decor...and aren't written notes THE BEST?? Snail mail rules!

I love that counter space, too!!

And, Lynn, I also wish you enough...

Have a beautiful weekend.

Thank you Lynn! I usually do not read forwards (almost as a rule) myself! But I like the gist of that one!

I am also not a fan of forwards, glad you saw the hidden message for you.

What an odd mosiac piece- Plaster I guess?
I always send Thankyou cards a bit on the late side- It's just a nice thing to do to acknowledge the gift.
A unique wish- I like it!

Reminds me of when the doctor said to us about being "Good enough" parents. Sometimes enough is good enough and I think that's something we all need to embrace. :)

I can imagine if you don't like the awards (me either), you might not like forwards yourself, right? I'm betting. And I thank you for my poem. :)

RK -

It was a good weekend and I wish you enough, too, my friend.

Lulu -

Do you still have the poem? That was a lovely thing to give him.

And snail mail rules - I need to do that more often myself.

Lance -

Thank you and I wish you enough.

lg -

Isn't it wonderful? Thank you.

Wendy -

It was like a hidden message and I loved it. :)

Snaggle -

I guess that is plaster - not sure. I'm not so crafty.

Joe -

Me, too. And I think you are a more than good enough parent.

Oh, Figo, how I miss thee. (and you too, Lynn!)

Whitney -

I hope you visit Atlanta sometime - I am sure there are a zillion people you would want to see, but you have an open invitation to stay with me, my home office has a pretty comfortable futon. (Nieces can attest.) Or we can meet at Figo. :)
