Resting, cup running over and joy to the world

- These dogs, hanging out in the sunshine, while their owner shopped on Saturday.

- A neighbor takes the opportunity to tell me all that is going wrong in her life as she is getting into her car. But before she backs out, she rolls her window down and calls out, "It's all good though, my cup runneth over!"

- From an article about my favorite movie reviewer, Roger Ebert, who can no longer speak or eat as a result of cancer surgery to remove his thyroid, comes this quote from him that sums it all up for me, "I believe that if, at the end of it all, according to our abilities, we have done something to make others a little happier, and something to make ourselves a little happier, that is about the best we can do. To make others less happy is a crime. To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts. We must try to contribute joy to the world. That is true no matter what our problems, our health, our circumstances. We must try. I didn't always know this, and am happy I lived long enough to find it out."

I think that I would be seriously confused after talking to the neighbor.

But that's just me. :D

Mmmm...a dog's life!! In fact, I like to visit benches like that, too. (although I'm *usually* not tied up!!)

And - love the quote from Roger Ebert. Bringing joy into this world...is a beautiful gift...

I think not being able to eat would bother me even more than not being able to speak. What an amazing man.

She and her boyfriend have bought a foreclosed upon house that they got for a song and are renovating it with limited funds. She doesn't really want to move and is conflicted by the whole thing. I must have looked confused by her unhappiness thinking that the two of them have really great jobs, there are two great children and they really are crowded in that wee condo that is the same size as mine. I can't imagine three other people living with me there. So I was gratified that she suddenly remembered how lucky she is. :)

lol! Me, too - love a bench. :) And Roger Ebert is certainly is filled with grace, isn't he?

Somewhere in that article he confides that he craves certain food all the time.

I love to read his reviews - he is my favorite. This quote that was toward the end of the article spoke volumes to me. I think you can bring joy to someone else's life every day in little ways - doesn't have to be big.

Wow -- that Ebert quote contains the keys to happiness for sure. It really is all inside.

So fun you took that dog shot for us. Looks like it was a nice day in Atlanta to stretch out under that bench.

The dogs look resigned to their wait.

"To make others less happy is a crime." - what a wise man. I read that he's going to have his own show now and I think his courage and his determination are a shining example of living life to the absolute fullest.

It's good to look up from a complaint and realize you haven't really got anything to be complaining of. :)

My great aunt died of complications from throat cancer, and I'm in awe that Mr. Ebert can write something so hopeful in the throes of that kind of devastation. Amazing quote, Lynn!

Mama Zen -

I think she realized how she sounded and reversed herself by saying that - she is lucky in love, for sure.

Jannie -

That's it - the key to happiness. I like that.

xo

Yes - he can talk through a computer now. Someone went through his old shows to create his "voice" that sounds like he once did. Amazing.

Meredith -

There you are! I was just thinking about you and wondering how you are. What's going on with you? Email me?

Yes - you got what I was talking about in the middle thing - she realized she didn't really have any complaints.

I thought the quote was amazing, too.

Lynn -

It is a fantastic way to look at life - wonderful man.

Dogs in the sun
A neighbors cup over flows
But she still has to run

Tho he cannot speak
His words ring true
Yes they seem to mean
A lot to you

This was taken in south Georgia where there was no snow, but the snow has completely washed away from my area of north Georgia now. It's rained for the last couple of days and that did it.

Riot Kitty -

They looked very sweet, too. :)

It is amazing the path that one can take after going through something catastrophic, such as the illness he has gone through. He is very disfigured now and has chosen to remain in the public eye - I am in awe, really.

Good wrap-up poem! Thank you for it.

Looks so nice, warm, n sunny- for the doggies to be seeking the shade- I bet if they worked together, they could all pull n move the bench! So well behaved tho.
There's a neighbor looking on the bright side after running into you-
Great Ebert quote! You're so good at spreading that joy-

Thank you for saying that, I like to spread joy as much as I can.

And I chuckle at the notion of those dogs walking up the sidewalk, dragging the bench with them. :)
