- Taking a vacation day so that I can go fetch my mom from her visit with my sister near Thomasville, Georgia. The journey includes, as always, a stop at the halfway mark to south Georgia at Stripling's Sausage and Meats. An old family business, it is in the middle of nowhere on the Georgia-Florida Parkway and hit the map when Paula Deen filmed a segment here. Love that slogan, "You Never Sausage a Place!" :)
- A sign invites you to have your photo made next to this pig and email it back to them. They even have a facebook page now.
- Two hours after this stop and I am in Thomasville, a town still small enough that I spot my sister's car at the Belk store and find she and mom inside looking at clothes. A lovely mother/daughters lunch, a family meeting and then on the road again.

Are you sure that place ain't called Trottersville or sumptin'? That is one cool pig! I'd totally get my photo taken next to him, and then wheel him away while no one was looking! :P
Never "sausage" a place!! :)
Ahh, a mother-daughters lunch. I'll do that today with my young un, at home. With Marie Callendar's beef tips with mushrooms. And chocolate cookies we made last night.
Whooo-hooo. Writing whooo-hooo seems to give me the same uplifting effect as actually vocalizing it. Weird eh?
Well, it's coffee time...
xxoo
I love pigs in a blanket, but I've never seen a pig from a basket - at least it looks like wicker to me. So now we have giant pigs in a basket - lol!
Safe travels, Lynn!

I fell over laffing the first time I saw them - they have two of them flanking each end of the porch. I circled around it to see if it could be used as a barbeque grill. :)

It was a busy driving day, but I liked it. :) Thank you for my poem!

He would make a delightful lawn ornament, wouldn't he? A general store in the middle of nowhere - cotton fields lining the highway around it for miles and miles. In a couple of months there will be cotton on those plants, but right now just little flowers.

Sounds like a great lunch to me! Maybe Blue Bunny can have karrits and beets. Woo hoooooo!

It did have some sort of woven wrap around it. A work of art for sure. :)
Has anyone tried to steal that pig? Just asking . . .
If I lived closer, I'd so go and take my picture with the pig!
Now I have this vision of Mama Zen running off with the pig, whilst R Kitty runs after her saying "Hang on I'm having my photo taken with him!"
Thanks for that! :D
Safe journey Lynn! "I never sausage a place!" Tee hee hee~it's cute; and their own web page! We'll I'll be!
:)

That mother/daughter lunch sounds sweet.
Ha! "You Never Sausage a Place!" I finally get it now! lol
Love the piggy. I'd definitely pose with him and share the photo on FB.
Have a happy weekend, amiguita!!
Mama Zen -
I don't know - but it might be easy since it rolls and all. :)
RK -
Send me a cardboard cut out of yourself and I'll pose it front of the pig and take a photo. :)
Joe -
A fun thought, for sure. :)

Thanks, lg! It is the best slogan ever! :)
Ily -
Send a cardboard cut out - I'll pose you next to Riot Kitty in front of the pink pig. :)
You have a happy weekend, too, my friend!
Strange stop-over spot! 9I try not to eat pork, btw- but all that sausage would be tempting.
Piggy must be huge- The nose a trach can, the legs 5-gallon buckets?
It's tough finding anyone in the big stores around here-
Sounds like a good family lunch- well worth the trip!

I'll bet this pig gets to appear in parades and such. That pull handle comes in handy for that I'll bet.
I do believe F. needs his photo taken with that pig -- and he's up for any journey if it includes pork at the end. ;)
The best is that slogan, though. Such a great pun! I'm in awe.
Glad you had a great mother/daughter confab, Lynn. Those are special. :)

I believe F must have been a southerner in a past life. :)
