Get used to that camera, Petey - you'll be seeing it a lot! Photo by JMM
- Here he is - my sister's new kitty, complete with a first name and middle name - Brother Pete. The vet's office had named the whole litter with names of Greek gods and goddesses, and this one was pronounced "Zeus" - but they had been calling him Brother or Little Brother, after he was the final one left to adopt. My brother-in-law suggested Pete, so Brother Pete, he is. They'll just end up calling him Pete, we think.
- A message from my plantation manager niece: "a snake shed his skin in my office but the snake is nowhere to be found yet......this could be an interesting afternoon." She reportedly spent the afternoon sitting with her legs up in her chair. Yikes. The fun life in the country!
- A conversation with my cousin about her son's upcoming wedding. There will be no flowers at all, but lots of faux jewels. The bridesmaids will carry jewel-studded pomander balls. She is impressed that I know what a pomander ball is - I think it is all that informational blog reading. :)
So that's my family news for the day. I hope you have a wonderful weekend with good things happening to you!

I just named a kitten "Sneaky Pete" and will blog about him today. It's funny that we both picked the name Pete.
Snake skin -- no snake -- my legs are in the chair all day too.
Are pompadour balls the same as kissing balls?
No flowers??? Wow.
Brother Pete looks like a fine fellow indeed, and already has his scratching post and toy!
A snake! I would be doing the feet-up thing, too. Eep!
I wouldn't just have my feet up - you wouldn't see me near that office for dust - lol!
Brother Pete is a sweetheart! Look at that serious expression!
The wedding sounds interesting - definitely not a run-of-the-mill scenario.
Have a fabulous weekend, Lynn!
The cat is in
The name is down
So no more worry
Of this going round
A snake is there
But not it seems
So legs in chairs
And still no screams
The wedding is on
The flowers are out
The pomander balls
Carry more clout
A happy weekend
You should have to
And tell that girl
You’re not coo-coo
Granny Annie -
Your Pete looks like he is sneaking around that farm equipment for sure. It must be fun for cats to live on a farm.
I just emailed her and asked her if her snake ever presented itself in the open. She said, "hahaha, no!! Im hoping he took up residence in SD's office instead of mine. I've been paranoid everytime i get out of my chair!"
Yes - pomander balls are also called kissing balls. Wonder why?
FB -
I guess that is a thinking outside the box bride!
Yes - he has settled in nicely. My sister says he keeps wanting to scratch the sofa and she keeps patiently bringing him back to the scratching post. Ah - there's nothing like a kitten!
Talon -
We are all snake phobic I think. :)
Yes - that expression is so serious - like, "what are you doing, new lady?" :)

I love my poem! Thank you and I'm not all that coo coo, but maybe a little. :)
Brother Pete--sounds like a friar! Snake skins in the office-sounds like someone is playing tricks! But then, snakes inside are not unheard of.
No flowers at all???? That's a shame - from my perspective.
Not many people know the term pomander; most call them kissing balls, if anything.
What a sweet kitty!
I wouldn't be able to get a thing done; I would be looking for that snake.
What a cute kitty Brother Pete is! Thanks for the pic.
I'm not afraid of snakes actually- I'd be looking all over for it- to see if it was poisonous. Talk about distracted typing!
Those are strange ball things! Thanks for bringing them to my attention. Have a fun week-end!
Again this will teach me to neglect my blog reading. All the funny comments about Brother Pete have been taken.
Perhaps Brother Pete might be available to hear a confession from a fellow cat lover for a few minutes?
Great no flowers! I can't stand them! Faux jewels sounds much better! :D
Have a great weekend Lynn, or what's left of it!
Sage -
His name does sound like that - do you remember Brother Francis? He was one of the mascots for the Atlanta Braves at one time. He wore a monk's costume.
My niece works in the Florida wildnerness - I am not one bit surprised by there being a snake skin in her office. The last time I was down there, one of those tree frogs landed in the trunk of my car and I had to get it out. Sigh.
Kenju -
I imagine you wouldn't like that - fortunately most brides like flowers.
Mama Zen -
Same here!
Snaggle -
I hope you are having a fun weekend, too!
G -
He might just have time for that. :) Hope you are doing OK today.

A blingy wedding - right up your alley!
Brother Pete is the perfect name for that little fellow. Nice colors!
Reading about the snake gave me chills. I couldn't have worked knowing there was a snake loose in the office! Eek!
Hoping you have a wonderful week to follow your great weekend!
funny family news! lol!
Zeus/Pete is adorable! Gross story about the snake. Usually they eat their skin though.
PS Congrats! This time (obviously) your blog did not make me hungry!
Ily -
Thank you, Ily - I hope your week is good, too!
Wendy -
Thank you. :)
Riot Kitty -
They eat their own skin????? Eek. Oh ewww. I'm glad I didn't inspire the hungriness today!
Awww, he looks so fun and cute.
Reminds me of Petey in the Little Rascals.
At first I thought YOU had gotten another kitty.
Pommander balls sound so lovely and Victorian.
xoxo
Jannie -
No - that would be my feline "nephew" - I like that comparison with Petey of the Lil Rascals.
My kitty Sophie passed away in August - I don't think I mentioned that to you. I've been very sad about it and thought about posting something and then just didn't.
