Donna Summer, the neighborhood and legacy

- Forgive me for being sentimental today, but I loved Donna Summer.  May she rest in peace.

- Loving how the condo neighborhood is turning outdoors in the early evening now that the weather is nice.  Children on bikes, dogs frolicking, a neighbor holds another neighbor's newborn baby while they chat.  Coming back from a walk and being greeted by everyone is lovely.

- Polishing my grandmother's silverware, now my silverware, in anticipation of company coming for dinner over the weekend.  When mom gave it to me in a paper bag several years ago, it was tarnished black.  It was fun the first time it was polished to see the life and luster come back to it.  Mom says it wasn't for company, they used it all the time when she was growing up.

It's the weekend - yay!  I hope your weekend is wonderful!

I always enjoyed Donna Summers music. She leavs a lasting legacy at least-
Glad you have such nice folks at your condo to greet as you enjoy the evening air.
Lucky to have the silverware. I'd thought I had my Moms, n looked so I could polish it, but can't find it- Maybe somehow it got in my brothers pile when we were cleaning the old hose way back.
Hope you enjoy your company n have a good week-end

The Elephant's Child -

It's nice having little ones in the complex again. For too long it was just adults.

Snaggle -

That video has that bittersweet song, "McArthur's Park" - and was filmed when she sang at a concert in Holland in 2006. She sounded just as great as always. It's the end of an era with her gone.

No need to ask forgiveness for being sentimental. It is always sad to lose an artist who put so many songs in our hearts.

You sentimental journey continued with your walk through the neighborhood and polishing your grandmother's silverware.

So so sad about Donna. I had no idea she was ill with cancer. She was a born again Christian, and the knowledge that she's now in heaven is comforting.

Nice video. :) I added one to my music blog. No More Tears (Enough is Enough). Love the song.

I am sorry about Donna Summers too - I did not hear about her.

So who is coming to dinner and what are you cooking - I guess you are going to polish up and use the silver.

Granny Annie -

Yes - I was having a sentimental moment. I need some new stainless steel flatware - the old is fine for just me, but I don't like to use it for company. So it makes me get the silver out and polish it when someone is coming to visit. :)

Joe -

I cried for Donna when I listened to that song and just had to post it. I'm glad she was a Christian, too.

Joanne -

I know - exactly!

I'm at with my sisters right now in northern Florida, but will be back in ATL Sunday afternoon. And then company is coming for dinner (long story.)

So I had leave the table set. :) I'm having pork roast, savory onion pie, chilled soup and green salad. Someone is bringing bruschetta and dessert.

It's a group of friends who rotate dinner, so it's my turn. Sure wish I had known it was going to coincide with the out of town visit. I'll get home tomorrow with about two hours to spare.

Miriam -

Hey - good to see you. Love your blog recipes.

I used to dancercise at Figures and Fitness (after the Csection when my daughters was born) on Donna Summer's songs.
Have a good time with your company.

Donna Summer was wonderful, wasn't she? Like Sage, her songs brings back memories of those carefree days of childhood. Loved her!

Hope you enjoyed your fancy feast! :)

Long summer evenings are the best. I like hearing kids playing outside until the last bit of sunlight is gone.
