Purple flowers, birds on a pedestal and a frog

Some random photos from my recent trip to the river...

- That's my sister and brother-in-law's vacation cottage in the background.  Their neighbor is a master gardener and I love wandering over there to walk her garden.

- Birds on a pedestal.  My car is always mugging for the camera.  :)

- This frog looks astounded that I would have the audacity to wander around while its owners are absent.

Note:  I use the awesomely free download of Picasa to edit my photos, and for the frog photo, used an effect called Lomo - meant to imitate the look of photos taken with the Lomo Toy Camera.  According to Wikipedia, the Austrian producers of the Lomo camera, discovered what they call "Lomography."  They were "charmed by the unique, colorful, and sometimes blurry" images the camera produces.
Here's what it looked like before.  Fun, huh?:

Nice to have such a lovely place for a stroll.

Who knew your car was a photo bomber?

The frog is great in either shot. Looks just like my profile picture:)

That is so funny, because it reminded me of Granny Annie's profile picture instantly! Do you know what kind of flowers are in the first shot?

Granny Annie -

My car as a photo bomber - and it looks so unassuming, too. :)

You know - I hadn't thought about it before, but it does a little! Only you are much cuter.

Right??? I know!

I think I've developed a pretty good eye for composing a good photograph and Picasa helps, but I don't call myself a photographer. Thanks for giving me that compliment though!

Riot Kitty -

I love that garden because of all the whimsical things tucked around like Granny Annie's imitator. :)

I don't know what that flower is - it looks like something in the Lantana family. I'll ask the neighbor next time I'm there.

You're welcome - I liked that frog with the Lomo-ish effect. :)

It's a little hot already. I just walked back into the warehouse and it's sweltering back there.

Very cool Picasa effects! I like what you did.

Yes, lantana, or maybe Pentas?

What an enchanted place, thanks for taking me there.

Great photos and the river sounds like a nice place to get away from things.

Jannie -

It is enchanted there - I do love it.

I hope you are having a happy day.

I think so, too. :)

It is. I like it when the neighbors are away - although they are all very nice. They are well-meaning, but can be a little too much in touch.

Lomo Frog is a funky frog! Love that expression and yes, he appears to be appalled by your behavior! lol

Nice birds and flowers. As much as I consider myself a city girl, I'm starting to appreciate nature more. There's so much beauty out there...I need a better camera!

I love lawn ornaments! The birds and froggy are adorable.

I have a snail and a "bluebird of happiness".

Shionge -

Hey - good to see you. And yes, that frog has lots of personality. :)

Betty -

It's a wonderland!

Scarlet -

I wonder if it told its owners? :)

I just have a Canon digital camera - one of those point and shoot things. I do think it will do a lot more than I realize. Love those effects you can put on with Picasa though.

Sparkling Red -

Me, too. :) I'd like to see the bluebird of happiness.

Like those purple infront of other purple wild flowers. Love those whimsical bird ornaments! I hear garden frogs are good luck- I have Rain Toad. But they do get weatherbeaten over time. Nice effect job- perks him right up!

That purple flower photo is one of my favorites - I like next to the metal "trees".

And maybe we should get frogs for our gardens. :)
