Georgia Blue, coexist and random act

- It is clear from reading blogs that this summer is being brutal to almost everyone, weather-wise anyway.  You might be able to spot a few brown spots in the Veronica peduncularis plant named "Georgia Blue."  It's hanging in there though and maybe it'll bloom next spring.  There was lots of rain last week and about an hour after I took this photo, there was another hard rain and then it was over for the day.

- If I was trying to grow two maple trees and a pine tree in a pot, I probably couldn't.  :)  This is my "weedy" pot - I've always let whatever wants to, grow there.  I always pull that stuff out in the winter and this is the third time those things have come back.

- Receiving this awesome card animal card in the mail containing a Starbucks gift card, from a friend "just because."  When I say I don't know what I did to deserve that, this reply:   "Just a random act of caffeine ;)"

Those random acts of kindness or caffeine are so appreciated. Cheers to you, my friend. And, yeah, everything looks brown and thirsty around here, too.

Sounds like you've been having the same weather as we. Lovin' the rain!

Your weeds are looking gorgeous, and those windows look lovely, Lynn. Always fun to see a new view of your pretty place.

I'll see how many times I can slip the word peduncularis into conversation today. :) :)

You deserve that friend, whoever she or he may be!! You are both obviously awesome.

xoxo

G -

I'll say! It came at a good time.

I know - so appreciated. And there doesn't seem to be enough water in the world to save some of the plants.

Joanne -

I think so, too. :)

No - it's card stock, designed by an artist called Roger la Borde. rogerlaborde.com

Riot Kitty -

Isn't Georgia Blue a great name? This vine is a perennial and is supposed to have beautiful blue flowers - maybe next year.

Flowers and Starbucks - two good things indeed.

Wait, I see on better inspection that actually may be a stairway area, railings and such. Well, if it leads to your condo it is indeed a stairway to heaven!!!!

Random acts of kindness are rare, but I am sure this is the only Random Act Of Caffeine. So creative and thoughtful. Enjoy:)

3 times? I would plant them some place permanently, then. They are meant to be with you. Seriously.

Your plants look ok despite the heat. Amazing the same stuff keeps growing there- This year I have a teeny Maple in a small starter paper cup! Don't have the heart to kill it- I'll find a spot on the hill for it. Congrats on you random acquisition, use it well!

Not a lot of green left around here.

A "weedy pot" is a great idea. Maybe I could finally grow something. However what would choose to grow in a weedy pot would not really be anything I could claim as having grown.

Right now I am hitting my forehead with the palm of my hand and exclaiming "of course! of coures!" Recently trying to think of a perfect gift for oldest daughter I made a crappy choice and never thought of a gift certificate to Star Bucks which would have been perfect for her.

I think she might have started something. :)

I am quite cheered! I hope you are doing well, my friend.

Me, too. :)

Isn't that a great idea???

I know - I need to figure out where they could go in the ground.

Sandie -

I think so, too.

We've gotten lots of rain this week and the plants are loving it. My pot of basil is looking especially lush.

Granny Annie -

I did hear that Oklahoma is very dry. I hope you get some rain soon.

There's always the next birthday. One of my most favorite birthday presents from my parents is when they went birthday shopping for me and filled up a goodie bag with little things - a lacy bookmark, a mug, my favorite chocolate - that kind of thing.

I love the idea of a weedy pot! My MIL calls them "volunteers". :-)

Sparkling Red -

My mother called them volunteers, too. :) The first time I heard that was when she showed me the wild mint that showed up in the back yard. She said, "It volunteered."

My daughter has writing paper with that design on it!

I never drink caffeine anymore.

Apparently summertime is arriving in the UK this weekend!! For 2 whole days!
