- My Saturday morning walk in Lilburn (Georgia) park was over and I impulsively pulled over to snap a photo of the nearby Hindu temple on the way home. I always think it looks as if it were made of spun sugar. Much better photos can be seen here. Oddly - it shares the block with a Walgreens Drug store - I was standing in its parking lot here.
- My Sunday School class was studying world religions and took a Sunday afternoon tour a few years ago. Gracious tour guides told us of the volunteers who carved 34,000 individual pieces to be shipped to the USA and assembled in Lilburn "like a giant 3-D puzzle."
- Looking up on Sunday morning to see a plant trickling down from my upstairs neighbor's back porch. See it there? It was wonderfully cool and a perfect time for a peaceful hour of reading. I hope your weekend was good, too.

Honestly, it does look like a wedding cake made of creamy sugar or something! What a beautiful temple; so 'unlike' our Western architecture though!

Hi Lynn .. if we look more closely at things around we do see so much more - and then learn where the fabricated parts came from ... always astonishes me, especially with all the workmanship involved ..
Spun sugar ... there's words we used here in the 1800s - barley sugar carving I think was one of them ..
Great thought though - as I go to London I shall look for some spun sugar!! Cheers Hilary
Nice looking Temple grounds n fence they have there- Are the Hindus the ones who worship cows as re-incarnated human soul beings?
I designed (not built) a large, 3D exhibit in college once, based on space n time. would be fun to build a huge puzzle like that.
Nifty planter, just wonder why they didn't keep it upstairs. Oh well, freebie green is always good!

Are you talking about Georgia in these United States of America?? For some reason that seems almost as astonishing as the beautiful temple itself.
I thought your blog said you saw the neighbors "paint" trickling down and not "plant" so it took me a good bit of searching the picture or the paint until I went back and read more carefully.

It wasn't fenced in for the longest time, but I imagine some hoodlums might have been by with graffiti. I hope not, but that fence did go up all of a sudden. Not sure about the cows - they didn't go into that at the tour.
I was talking about the trail down plant above the planter. It makes me think of my header art. :)

It's the largest one in the US, I think. There was a wonderful parade to celebrate it, complete with decorated elephants and such, going down that rather nondescript highway next to the temple.

I guess it might seem astonishing, but not to me. There is also a Muslim mosque in midtown Atlanta. Atlanta is so multi-cultural these days. Someone should make a TV show about that instead of that Honey Boo Boo family. :)
