Legacy, the view and busy boy

- Camellia blossoms floating in water.  My sister gathered some for the buffet at her home on Thanksgiving day, from the hundreds in the camellia bushes in front of her house.  The bowl belonged to her late mother-in-law, who always used it the same way for holiday gatherings.

- The view from the back door.  The family enjoys this pool, but I love the view beyond it.  When my sister was lamenting that she has such a drive to civilization (grocery store, etc.), I pointed out what she gets to see every morning.

- My new great nephew on his awesome activity mat.  He seemed the most enthralled with the blue octopus hanging there.  He and I named the donkey lying on his lap Bo, because that will be easy to say.

When I left northern Florida on Saturday, it was so warm that I was wearing a t-shirt and flip flops, but changed to sneakers and hoodie when I stopped for a walkabout two hours north of there on the way home.  :)

It looks like you visited paradise for Thanksgiving- those camelias!
And I adore the chubby little legs on your grand-nephew : )He looks like a happy boy!

First I was so relieved that "the view" part was not the television show. Whew.

The traditional floating Camellias are wonderful.

Yes, sometimes I also lament about being so far from civilization but am easily called back to thankfulness for our lovely home location.

Remember when children were entertained with a wooden spoon and a metal pan?

Glad you had a change of clothes for the weather change.

Leonora -

It is lovely there. This was my first time meeting young Monroe in person - he's just a delight.

Granny Annie -

This is so funny, but The View was my dad's favorite show! My mom and I used to exchange looks about it. :)

My sister said her MIL used to always put that bowl out with flowers in it at all events. I love that we had so many legacy moments like that.

Yes - and tupperware. :)

I always go prepared. I had my winter coat, too, just in case.

Sage -

Our grandmother had camellias in front of her home and so when Jo and her husband moved to the farm, she asked the landscaper to put them across the front of the house.

Sandie -

I guess it's "home" now.

happygirl -

He got loads of hugs and kisses. I loved rocking him in the rocking chair.

Hilary -

Thank you again for the wonderful Kipling post today!

Cheers!

With the day I'm having, I really need that activity play set that your nephew has.

However, I do have an ulterior motive for stopping by. I want to apologize, as I had a severe brain cramp and accidently deleted your wonderful comment on my blog post today.

However, I did make a good attmept at answering it, because I had so thoroughly enjoyed everyone's answers I managed to memorize the basic outline of everyone's comment while I was reading.

Lynn!
It sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving! I was eager to post a pic (for you) and my family/friends but blogger is asking me to buy storage as I am over their limit for storage. UG. Have to think about this one so...no photo! I have made a new outfit for a reproduction Barbie (retro) for my niece Molly for Christmas and I wanted to show it off! Let me work this thing out.

Sweet sweet baby boy! How wonderful, Lynn. :-)

Sometimes I'll get in that pool on a float in the summer months. And sis and I might get in the hot tub part in the winter.

Loved your sandwich post - you inspire me to make a more creative sandwich. What I said was - sometimes I take turkey and swiss or provolone on whole wheat to work - and then it turns into a few days in a row until it runs out. :)

lg -

I wonder why that hasn't happened to me? My blog is so heavy on the photos - I guess any time. :)

How many minutes IS she from "civilization?"

yes, those activity mats are AWESOME, Kelly loved her similar one, that later could be converted into a "tunnel" she loved to crawl through. And even later she took to dragging it around the house and / or wearing it on her head.

Lovely old bowl!

I know what you mean about the temp changes. Yesterday I had the a/c on in the car, today I'm all sweat-suited up.

Thanks for clarifying and I'm glad I was able to inspire you to get a little creative for lunch. :D

Lynn~When you use up 1 GB of Picasa storage then they ask you for a monthly fee (a small one; I think 2.49 a month is the minimum you can buy.) I am bummed about it! Thought the blog was 'free...'
Oh well. :-)

Not that many, maybe 20. :) I can understand the frustration sometimes though - if you're out of an ingredient or aspirin.

That's funny about Kelly putting the activity mat on her head. :)

xoxo

G -

Today it'll be leftover pasta with tomato sauce, I guess.

lg -

Hmmm - can you clear out photos from there you don't need and add back space?

Louvregirl said...

Not sure. My husband asked me this. I suppose I could delete a year of my blog or something. But it is like a journal (for me) of living (up) here and I am reluctant to do so. Besides, since I add a few photos every week, I would fast approach their limit anyway. Still cogitating!

Gorgeous bowl by the way. I LOVE it!
"Want" one. In Florida I used to float gardenia flowers that way which always smelled just heavenly!

Lynn! My folks are about 25 mins from a real grocery store. and 10 from a convenience store. So, I know how it goes.

Yes, she did repurpose many items in interesting ways. kids, eh. :)

Sorry my internet wasn't working right earlier in the week-
What pretty blossoms! Good point of view you brought up to your niece- it is a blessing living in a rural zone.
Quite an array to play with there with your adorable great nephew! Bet it was fun playing with him-

I wouldn't delete any of your wonderful blog. You could always start a new one and let us know the link!

Jannie -

Sometimes I think I would like that. I'm within one minute of a convenience store and five minutes to a grocery store, but I can't say there's much beautiful about that.

Snaggle -

I loved being with Monroe and his first Thanksgiving. :)
