Christmas, part 1, vintage Santa and view from the other side

- SnaggleTooth asked, in a comment the other day, when I was putting up my little tree.  Here it is - in its usual spot in the pass through from the kitchen to the dining room.  This year I have my flashing snowman that was in my stocking last Christmas.  My sister asked my brother-in-law to be in charge of stockings last year and he did such a good job that it is his permanent job now.

- This photo was a little grainy, so I took the other one above this morning.  But here it is anyway.  The Santa on the left belonged to my Great Aunt Grace, who always placed him under her Christmas tree.  The wooden Christmas tree box on the right was given to me by a client - her husband made it.  You can sit holiday cards in it, but I have an angel sitting in it.

- The view from the other side.  The music box there plays "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" - it used to have candy in it.  Long gone, of course.

This is Christmas, part 1.  A United Parcel Service driver has my 4.5' prelit tree and is diligently making his way to my home, to arrive today.  I brought home so many of my late parents' Christmas decorations that it'll be filled up in no time.  So you know there will be Christmas, part 2 on Friday.  :)

Such delightful decorations. I am getting more and more inspired to get down our decorations but just can't bring myself to do so. Loving yours instead.

This year is an artificial tree year and I don't feel one bit guilty about it. Adore your Santa. I need to hang my stockings with care and shop and bake and, and, and... I need to get going. :)

Oh, your new tree with your parent's ornaments will be a joy! If it were me, I'd shed a few tears as I decorated it, but such is love.

Hi Lynn - they look so pretty - and your brother in law obviously does an excellent job - love the snowman.

I haven't got there yet - might by the 21st or so ...

Enjoy the rest of your preparations .. cheers Hilary

Gorgeous images. No decorations here. Yet. Perhaps on the weekend. Most of our family ornaments went to a brother of mine. Few survive which I am sad about. Just the same, I have purchased/acquired some which I hope will stand the test of time.
I am looking forward to Part 2.

Granny Annie -

I wish I lived closer to you - I'd come help you do it.

I love a real tree, too, but artificial has its good points. Good luck with all the prep!

Leonora -

I decorated it last night with their ornaments and some of mine. I did tear up a little and it took me all evening - I kept moving things around to best effect.

Hilary -

Thank you - I love the snowman so much. :)

Cheers to you!

The Elephant's Child -

We divided up ornaments pretty much by which sister gave the ornament to mom and dad. There were many like that over the years - I'm happy with my mix of things. Not a designer tree, but I like it as it is.

Riot Kitty -

Thank you - it makes me happy.

Snaggle -

I got some of the Christmas Hershey's Kisses last night for my Santa dish. I'm sorry you have to work Christmas night - I'll be driving back from Florida that day, too. Maybe it'll be an easy traffic day.

Hello Lynn. Thanks for coming for a visit and leaving a comment. Yes I do believe you are right. My carolers do look like chipmunks. Wish I could hear them sing. LOL
I love your tree. It looks so warm and cheerful. Your decorations are very nice. I have a few ornaments that were on our tree when I was a child but am not using them this year because I have a white tree and they only look good on a green one. Maybe next year...

Ily -

Thank you -

Mountain Mama -

I've been lax on decorating the last few years - so much family illness kept me on the road constantly. So this year - I'm a decorating fool. :)
