Trees on cars, it says it all and peace and quiet

- Signs of the season - trees tied to the tops of cars.  I'll bet they'll love the smell of that tree in their home.

- A coworker refers to a client who is a little mixed up:  "Bless her heart!"  That phrase says it all and is something often heard in the south.  :)

- After an exhausting day at work, volunteer work after, an hour commute home from that, walking into my peaceful and quiet home.  Lovely.

As long as the trees aren't falling on cars n are getting hauled on cars.... When are you getting your little tree out?
It's nice to think well of a confused client instead of making fun of them as often happens up north here.
Nothing like home after a long day- It's the best refuge.
Hope the rest of your week is less tiring!

We always had to cram our tree into the truck of our car and drive home carefully with it hanging out the back.

We always use "Bless his/her heart" and sometimes if we're especially helpful, we say "Bless it's little heart." Got that from our dad who let mother do the healing when we were sick and he brought the words and patted our heads. Especially thinking of my dad today on his birthday.

Arriving home after a hard days work is the best feeling in the world. Be it ever so humble....

Home is where our hearts are.
I think blessing someone's heart is a gift that does not cost anything. Earning someone's blessing does not cost anything either, may be a little muscle work. Back in India our elders blessed us if we ran errands for them or even do a little bit of their chores for them.

I've heard about this "bless your heart" business...mostly of how it's often used as a veiled insult. :P

We're doing the live tree thingy this year. Mother wanted a live tree for a change, so we picked one up at WalMart over the weekend.

We think Vasil McNut would go McNuts over a tree unfortunately...but we may put up some lights. Blake's coming next week so he can help fend off any claw attacks on the decorations.

Arriving home to a quiet place is blissful. And I seem to have acquired the bless his/her/its heart from somewhere. Am I out of line though? I often use it instead of wishing bad things on an individual. 'He has used the last of the milk and put the empty container back in the fridge. Again. Bless his heart.'

Snaggle -

Oh my - I didn't think of trees falling on cars when I wrote that. Yikes - we don't want that to happen, for sure.

We love our clients and don't make fun of them.

Let's just say I'm looking forward to Saturday. :)

Granny Annie -

That's nice that you were thinking of your dad on his birthday.

When niece Abby was little was was sick for a couple of days and her mom was expressing sympathy for her symptoms, and Abby looked up and said, "Bless my heart." :)

Munir -

I think you are blessed for taking care of elders.

Joanne -

It's complicated, I guess. :)

Hilary -

I feel the same way. I am leaving my house at 7am and not getting home until after 6pm most days. So it's nice to come home to my peaceful place. Work is crazy this week.

Cheers!

G -

I finally ordered one online - I just wanted a prelit fake one that was a little bigger, since I brought home so many of mom's ornaments.

I forgot to answer Snaggle's question about my little tree - I haven't gotten that one out yet, but it will go in the pass through from the kitchen to the dining room as usual.

Riot Kitty -

I'll bet Vasil is lots of fun. That's nice that Blake is coming - you'll both enjoy that.

The Elephant's Child -

I think it is perfectly OK in that context and the way we use it here - lovingly exasperated. :)

I saw a few cars in a row carrying trees and brought a smile to my face. Reminds me of "When Harry Met Sally" when Sally lugs her tree home (for some odd reason). I need to get the old movies out that have Christmas scenes in them.

It's great your volunteering and that you have a cozy home to come back to. Enjoy the season!! :)

Golly - I haven't seen that movie in years. I don't even remember that scene. I'll have to get it.

Hope your weekend is good!

Bless her/his heart are often used in the UK in fact it's often abbreviated to just "bless".

I'd love to have a real tree again but it's just too much hassle to be honest.

Real trees do smell nice. We've had ours up for over a week now.
